I DO NOT know if I can do this

18 years ago 0 5 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Guys I am on Day 4 and I DON'T KNOW IF I CAN DO THIS. I feel terrible, i can't stop thinking about going outside for a smoke... my heart is pounding and I DON'T HAVE CONTROL. I'm chewing gum like a maniac and think I might have sprained a jaw muscle. I really feel like I am spiraling out of control, how the hell do I not just have one?????? I feel like I am losing the battle...

PLEASE DON'T SMOKE! It is so not worth it. I am back after losing over 100 days. Just don't smoke no matter what. You will feel so good and be so proud of yourself. Hang tough - we are all here for you. Free, Take a deep breath. You CAN do this. Quitting is not easy, but it IS most certainly doable and quitting won't kill you but smoking most certainly will!!! Just remember that if you get through today, you are one day closer to never feeling like this ever again... and this doesn't last forever, I promise you. By now, all of the nicotine should be out of your system (IF you quit cold turkey) and you're more than 1/2 way out of Hell Week. Hurray for that! Just keep going. Drink lots of water and fruit juice and use those coping tools. It's not easy, but it's definitely worth it. Congratulations on 4 days! Crave the Quit! I just read your post in the diet watch thread. You're quitting two things at once (cigs and food). One is enough for any mortal. EAT if that helps the craves. Don't worry about pounds. They will come off after your quit is stable. I am there, doing that. It works. Focus on quitting smoking right now. Hi, free104. Congratulations on being quit 4 days (truly an awesome accomplishment) and welcome to the SSC. Breathe deep. Breathe deep. Breathe deep. Breathe deep. Repeat. The nicotine is pretty much out of your system now. Smoking will just put it back in and restart the addiction/withdrawal process. You do not want that to happen! :8o: Try sugar-free candies, sucking or chewing on straws, reading and posting here, whatever it takes to not smoke. You DO have control, you just have to exercise it. It's not easy. If it was nobody would smoke. You do not have one by not putting one in your mouth and lighting it. OK? Hang in there, free104. Don't blow the four days. Hi free, Day 4 is tough. It was probably the toughest day for me. Now is the time to take every moment you can to take care of YOU, just like you would if you had the flu. Do something that's relaxing...take that time to pamper yourself.... a hot bubble bath or shower... some good comfort food ...a movie...a book whatever it is that let's you relax and occupies your mind. Allow your body the opportunity to begin the healing process. I didn't see your post about dieting but let that idea go for right now. You don't have to go crazy eating but allow yourself to focus on just this one thing first. You can focus more on weight loss later. You can do this. You are in control. You'll never regret all the effort... You really must learn to distract yourself at times like this. Take a walk....practice turning the thinking to why you will NOT smoke instead of why you want to. Entertaining the thinking is playing to the junky. It will increase the strength and length of the longing to smoke....don't just let the thinking 'continue' to spiral......find the way (both physical and mental) to stop it....it may take some practice to find the combination that works for you, but it's there.....begin working at it and remember....no one ever died from quitting. katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1487 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 59,518 Amount Saved: $8178.5 Life Gained: Days: 194 Hrs: 2 Mins: 4 Seconds: 5
