Hi I'm new here but not new to quitting. I am trying to 'recover' a yearlong quit that I lost on a business trip. But that's MY story. As for yours....oh wow can I relate. And the more I read your responses the more I relate. The first few months after I quit I'm not quite sure who the 'real me' is and which one it 'should be'. See there are two issues there one of the biggest is that 'should' word. I heard it in your post too. You are YOU, all of you, the wonderful tolerant pleasant co-worker and the 'I just want to rip your eyes out' person whith all the feelings she 'shouldn't' have. Accept them, feel them, love yourself for all of it. Act in the ways you choose and oh yeah....whatever else you do... Don't Smoke!! Hi Angelic! Ya know, I don't give people that power. If I feel hatred for someone, that is giving them power in my life. I used to be different though. Mainly, I hated people because I was jealous of them. For some reason or another. But there are those people that are just plain ol' mean. For them, I now feel pity for them, instead of hatred. Something is really wrong in their life for them to act this way. So I pity them. People that I "hate", I do not think about. They have no place in my mind. I have enough to think about! In your case it is different though. You have to see this person on a regular basis. Find out why you dont like her. But don't give her that much power in your life. Avoid her if possible. That will lessen the amount of time she is in your head. Good luck! Hi Angelic- For me, anger has been right under the surface alot of the time, probably most of the time... One minute is anger, next minute I am crying. Emotional roller coaster here! lol And at my 30 day mark (tomorrow) I am really finding myself on that roller coaster! I have a feeling that you just don't care for this person, Period. :) While we are dealing with the stresses, extremes, etc of our Quits, we are on edge... We don't have the energy to "mask" anything. (Is this making sense?) Since my Quit, my fuse is quite short (if there is a fuse at all) and I may be down someone's throat in a flash if they push me. We are just do damned vulnerable, dear one, right now. Hope this helps, and congratuations on your 30 days!! I am with you on feeling hateful, Angelic! I have been questioning whether or not I am a seriously mean person because I have been SOOO angry/mean since I quit. My boyfriend quit too and he seems to be doing so much better than me with the anger. I don't like anyone right now. The worst time so far was around 30 days, I was a mess. Now it seems to be subsiding slightly but I am still pretty emotional. It was really helpful to read all the replies you got, glad I am not alone! If you are needing ways to calm down, running has really helped me. It makes me so happy and euphoric that I forget about everything I was angry about. That, and eating chocolate...which is counterproductive...but it works! Angelic, I would say it is probably a little bit of both. I have found people that I actually like getting on my nerves, so I can't imagine what would happen if I had to be around someone that I really was not that fond of everday. That has got to be really hard! I have changed since my quit: I bite, don't mess with me lol!! BUT...I am aware this is a symptom of my quit - I'm not really like that and I know it will pass. I don't know why this happens, but it's like I get mad about EVERYTHING - thankfully my family and friends understand!!
