My favorite method of dealing with people I can't stand is to KILL THEM WITH KINDNESS. Somehow, it diffuses the situation and occasionally I come to really like the person! Go figure.....try it. Just say something nice once in awhile. If nothing else it will distract you. Smack the junkie, Janet :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 256 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,133 Amount Saved: $1280 Life Gained: Days: 33 Hrs: 20 Mins: 19 Seconds: 39

Well I am not going to smoke. I don't want to and I have no urge to. (sorry if that came across rude) It's just sometimes I am a very hateful person since I quit smoking. Some things I know I have a right to be hateful towards but others I dont know if I do. Am I making any sense? It's like I don't know if I should be that way. I don't want to but at the same time I can't help it either. I am not mean to these people or act any different towards them. I keep it all to myself and go on with my day. Could it be that I am noticing things more now than before when I smoked? Before I would have a smoke and say F it but now that I am not smoking its like I dwell on things that maybe I shouldnt be dwelling on. Angelic, What did you used to do when you got mad? That's right... you smoked. You took a break, walked outside, perhaps with other smokers and talked with them about it, you took deep breaths on that cancer stick and suddenly, you felt better. Well, guess what? You can STILL take those breaks and calm down without having to smoke. When you feel yourself getting mad, take a break to calm down BEFORE you get to the point of rage and want to rip her head off! :eg: Smoking pacified many of our emotions that now, we have to deal with without smoking. You're doing great and I'm glad to hear that you don't want to smoke and won't! That's great! Crave the Quit! Hi, Angelic. You are so right about before being able to have a smoke to calm down. But it wasn't the smoking that did the calming. It was the break time. The smoking gave a distraction and the time gave ..., well, time to cool off. Plus the nicotine fix gave your brain a dopamine boost that made you feel better. You can still take the time and find something else to be the distraction. Another thing to be aware of is your time quit. It's possible you are in the "30-day slump". Congrats on one month quit, Angelic. That's awesome. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 316 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,333 Amount Saved: $1200.8 Life Gained: Days: 59 Hrs: 0 Mins: 42 Seconds: 4

Theres allot of anger come out of us when we quit and if you had problems with her before maybe the anger is coming out 2fold now. Or maybe you really cant stand her  I dont have any really good advice except to try and get through this and dont cave into smoking it wont help. "THEY" say that if u can't stand someone it's usually because there's something about them that reminds you of a part of yourself that you can't stand.

I think it's gr8 that u r acknowledging your feelings. We don't didn't do that much when we smoked. U have to change into the new you in order to remain smoke-free cuz the old u will smoke again. So keep acknowledging your feelings and growing emotionally and before u know it the new you will be stronger than ever before :) No matter what don't lite up... Keep on keepin on... I want to stress the point of learning some new distraction techniques in this quittin game.....especially when your intensified emotions try to come into play......it's not that you didn't have these emotions before....and you distracted yourself from them quite successfully.....how you ask??? by smoking Now that your chosen method of distraction is missing, you find yourself facing those emotions head on. No buffer....so it's really important to take action and create some new types of distractions/buffers. Hang tough and keep up the work....quitting is a "journey"....we need rest stops along the way, distractions now and then.....remember to "treat" yourself really well.....you deserve it the most!!
