Chicken, 3galeh, Melanie, Bubba, Shevie and Katy .... thanks to all of you for the supporting words :-) You are all right - smoking won't make any of this easier, won't make me calmer, won't solve anything ... There is no better time then the present to quit. Come in here and vent if thats what it takes but you have made it so far that it would be crazy to go back and do it all over again! Hang in there and try to do something to take your mind off smoking. Remeber, smoking is just an addiction, nonsmokers handle stress everyday and don't smoke, you just need to find what works for you and do it just dont lite up. Don't go back to smoking....it's not worth it. You do want to be around to watch your daughter graduate or to see your grandkids right? Well by smoking there is a chance you won't be. Stick to your guns...don't smoke!!!! 22 DAys is awesome a true accomplishment. Go out and reward yourself...your are doing great!!! We are all here for you!! Hi, Phoenix_steight. Welcome to the SSC. It will never be the "right time to quit". There will always be something happening that will cause stress. A large part of quitting is relearning how to deal with life without the crutch of nicotine. And I promise you, there isn't a problem out there that smoking will fix. There will always be some kind of stress to deal with and smoking won't make it any better. Now is as good a time as any. YOu can smoke but you will still have to deal with all the stuff you are going through weather you are smoking or not. Hang in there and you will be so proud of you. There is no better time to quit than 22 days ago. Life has its difficulties, and we will always have them. Your dilemma, because of the daughter, and the sudden change in living status, makes you especially vulnerable to lapsing. We can always find excuses. My wife died in my arms. If I did not smoke then, all of us can do this. Do this for your kid if not for yourself. She will need you more as time goes by. Be the father you can be. Get healthier by the day. The time to quit has come and gone.....you ARE quit....hang on to that for dear life...cause that's what's at stake where smoking is concerned. I know all the stresses make smoking look inviting.....but we all also know that smoking won't change ONE single thing concerning what is happening to you. Hang tough....smoking is a personal choice that no one else can take from you. KEEP IT!
