Hello Everyone. I am on my new journey to stop smoking and I am worried that I wont make it. I will need encouragement and look forward to getting to know you. I just found out that I have Atrial Fibrillation and smoking of course aggravates it and since I am tired of having episodes happening more often that wears me out, I need to quit my habit. I have been smoking for 16 years and stress and depression seems to feed it as well. I am looking to start up a more positive habit like crafts, art or something else to keep me smoke free. That's all for now, LadyCroft My Milage: My Quit Date: 11/11/2006 Smoke-Free Days: -185 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 0 Amount Saved: $0 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 0 Mins: 0 Seconds: 0

Hello LadyCroft - Butterfly Swimmer is correct, you should plan to quit sooner. Smoking damanges the heart and contributes to the development of Atrial Fibrillation. (American Academy of Cardiology). You should make an appointment with your doctor so he/she can work with you for your current medical conditions, including possible depression. I would not put this off another day. You're life is worth making a phonecall and putting the smokes away for good. C'mon and join us quitters. Let us know when you want to join the non smokers and breathe EZ. We will be here to support you. Hi LadyCroft, I notice that your meter says that you're going to start your quit in 185 days... is that correct?!?! If so, you might want to consider starting your quit in less than 6 months. I'd say a week or two is plenty of time to prepare. Any more than that and you start to reconsider your decision to quit... in my opinion. If you already have depression, you might consider quitting with wellbutrin or zyban. They will help you with the depression and with the cravings. Starting a new hobby is a GREAT idea and it's also something that will help you keep your mind off of smoking... distration is key to a successful quit. We'll be here whenever you're ready to join us! In the meantime, don't hesitate to read and post as much as you'd like. Best wishes on your quit. Crave the Quit!
