Hey Ex-Slave, Love your name! :) I am also proud of you for going 2 days. I agree not to use an NRT. I think they do make the withdrawal more gradual and get you hooked on them too. I remember I chewed nicorette a lot more than it was suggested lol so much that my jaw would hurt. I started this quit with the patch. After I read Allen Carr's book, I removed the patch. I want to be free of the drug. The important thing is to quit but I do agree that using an NRT only prolongs the inevitable. Be a non-smoker. Do not smoke and do not mourn the death sticks. We are here for you! Hi Ex-Slave, Welcome here! This is a great site. I'm sure it will help you. When I gave up in February, I had a terrible cough; this disappeared within a couple of weeks. Keep us posted as to how you are doing All the best Mr Ed :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 103 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,104 Amount Saved: 772.5 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 5 Mins: 59 Seconds: 29

Hi there, you have my respect also because I know how hard it is to actually start a quit. You have gone 2 days already and that is a great start, make sure you use the quit program over on the left and come here as often as you need to for help, advice and motivation. ex-slave Congratulations on 2 days Remember the 3 Ps- POSITIVE attitude [very necessary] POST often [their is almost always someone here to post when you are in need of support] & Not One PUFF ever [It is hard to stop after one puff} Cuddles It's better to be a non-smoker with an occasional desire for a cig than a smoker with a constant desire to quit...... Hi everyone, What a great site! I have smoked for 33 years and had many, many, attempts at quitting in my past. I have used every kind of NRT that is made, at least twice, plus I've gone to nicotine anonymous meetings at 2 different periods in my life. I am on day 2. I sucked on the 2mg nic lozenges today at work, but I am going cold turkey while at home this evening. I have always used NRT in my past failed attempts, and am wondering if the NRT just keeps me craving. My last quit, I used NRT for over a year. I went from the patch, to the gum, to the lozenges. Then my mother passed away, I bought a couple packs, smoked about ten a day and now I am getting it under control to stay quit. I haven't had one puff for two days. I can't go back to that life. I have shortness of breath and cough terribly when i smoke. I know that all of you have gone through this quitting process, and you have my utmost respect. I will be around. hi I haven't been to this sight in awhile but it's in my "favorites" on my computer and I check it on occasion to remeber how it felt the firt few days. I just read your post and 33 years wow - I'd just like to say I quit many times before this too but this sight is what did it for me - granted I smoked for about 12 years but nonetheless it was this sight that made the difference - good luck to you and just read the posts a lot - it feels good talking to people about it - I never ever thought I would be here thanks d.a.n. aka dude against nicotine My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2004 Smoke-Free Days: 518 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,778 Amount Saved: $2849 Life Gained: Days: 67 Hrs: 1 Mins: 4 Seconds: 20
