Hi guitarplayerw, I just got home.. sorry you are having a rough time. I quit cold turkey and felt like I was dazed for a while. I would drink a lot of water and cranberry-type juice to help hurry up the flush of your system. If you are not afriad of eating too much.. snack through it.. it will get easier. I found it easier to be alone (away from family stress) and to pamper myself. Stay away from places that you are used to smoking around. No temptation. Get a saying and repeat it to yourself... for positive feeling.. Mine is ...I used to smoke but, I quit. We can do this .. breath.. snack.. make it through the detox days !! Yeah! I love to eat. It's my favorite thing to do! My weight gain has seemed to level out now. I've been the same weight for the past few days. I've been on the computer most of the day. It really takes my mind off of withdrawl. Today I've been on a mission to reverse my DNA damage and promote new collagen growth in my lungs! This takes a lot of research time! Hardly any time left to think about how funky I feel. Thanks, gpw BTW - Thanks, Josie, for permission to post plants. Been on NRT since 1/14. I decided to kick the nic the other day and am on hour #66 of the 72 hr. detox. This is the most uncomfortable I've felt since the beginning. I don't have the urge to smoke, but the herbal things I've been doing to keep feeling normal are not quite keeping me there. Sleep is not an option today, so I'm just hanging on knowing that it will pass. Anybody know when? It feels like my face is caving in and my lips, nose and hands feel funny. Thought posting and reading other posts would be a good idea just in case my inner junkie is trying to set me up! gpw My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 354 Amount Saved: $92 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 4 Mins: 23 Seconds: 16

Herbs and other supplements: The cleansing/detox herbs: Burdock Red Clover (dried herb and sprouts) Elecampane Herbs for tension: Peppermint Skullcap Valerian Passion Flower Supplements (amino acids) for the seratonin/dopamine connection: I began these a two weeks before my quit date. lecithin (for the choline) tryptophan tyrosine Additional general daily supplements: Good quality multi vitamin Good B-complex (naicin supports typtophan synthesis) vitamin C prune juice 6 oz.w/breakfast Some of these supplements may have contraindications, especially the amino acids if you take anti-depressants. Consult your doctor. I also have various essential oils that I use for healing aromatherapy, like lemongrass & eucalyptus. I always wanted to be a doctor, but became and addict instead..... :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 23 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 355 Amount Saved: $92 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 4 Mins: 37 Seconds: 5

hey gps - i "kicked the nic" two weekends ago and went thru a condensed version of Hell Week" in about 3 days - it was brutal. I wasn't able to sleep, concentrate, I felt out of sorts and generally very cranky...... But, I did find that by Day 3 (about the middle of the day) I was getting back to my "normal" self - cravings became manageable and I wasn't ready to rip someone's head off hang in there - you've pretty much made it! GPW, Don't give in! I quit cold turkey, so I don't know how long the withdrawal symptoms last after getting off NRT, but it shouldn't be more than a few days. Congratulations on 23 days! That's awesome! Crave the Quit!
