Good Job Butterfly. Tornados is one of my biggest fears. The funny thing is I live in the Mountains of West Virginia, don't think there will be a tornado anytime soon but they still scare the hell out of me nonetheless. That would have been a very hard test to pass for me. Congratulations on passing it! As stressful as that situation was for you, you did not give in and that's great!! You are an inspiration to others! :) Chicken My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/12/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 29 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 294 Amount Saved: $108.75 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 23 Mins: 32 Seconds: 57

That's right- I knew you were in Missouri- sometimes I can't remember s***!! Hope I can stay awake today!! No smokes for me! You know what I enjoy the most is perfumes and creams that I wear no longer to cover up the stinky smell of smoke, but just to smell good!! Have a good day, and hopefully this spring won't be terribly violent. Hi Butterfly!! I am so sorry about your experience last night. Ours was similar, with a tornado about 9 miles away and sirens going off. We are in a house, however, and I "slept" on the sofa down there trying to keep our old Golden calm. My hubby said, eh! and slept upstairs. Anyway! BOY!!!! did I want a ciggie!! just to calm me down!! Wish we could have ridden it out together! We are in northern Illinois. old SILVER My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 177 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,321 Amount Saved: $1150.5 Life Gained: Days: 24 Hrs: 16 Mins: 21 Seconds: 1

katy puts things in perspective ;) -- Pam! Dog gone it girl~ I'm in tornado alley so I understand. *big hug* You did great my friend! Now go spend some of that saved sickarette money and buy a NOAA weather radio. Also, remember a mattress over a bathtub is better than standing near a window on the bottom floor. I'll stop being your mother now. Be sure and take your pc with you :p :) ~all the best 2 My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 205 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,531 Amount Saved: $1025 Life Gained: Days: 19 Hrs: 13 Mins: 7 Seconds: 39

Congrats +++++ on not smoking last night Pam. That would be a huge temptation time for anyone ~ a "what the hell" moment. You have overcome, especially with cigs all around you and all you had to do was ask! One more thing I forgot to say! I still have many moments of wanting to smoke. I'm not sad about this anymore 'cause I think my recovery will take years. And that's okay because after 25 years of smoking, spending a couple of years recovering is really a very small window in the entire picture of my life. Anyway, I have a little note in my purse and I repeat the phrase to myself when I need to. I got the phrase from this site....Having "just one" will put me right back where I was, and that was desparately wishing I was where I am now! The grammar is not the greatest but you get the meaning. I think you must have gotten them a little bit after we did. I'm in Missouri. I don't have any animals to calm, but I know how that goes... you don't get ANY sleep when there's any kind of storm if you have animals who are afraid of the weather! Glad you made it through too Silver. Crave the Quit! Well, last night we had 6 or 7 tornadic storms in the area... tornado sirens going off all around for several hours... golf ball to baseball size hail pounding on my little car that was parked outside the apartment complex and the windows of my apartment complex being hit hard by the hail as well. I went down to the lowest level of my apartment complex. My neighbors and I were standing there watching the storm and they started smoking. I was scared because there isn't a good place to go in that apartment complex for tornados... they say go to a basement, but there just isn't one, and the lowest level is the stairwell with windows above you and in front of you on the door and there isn't any place towards the interior of the building to go. If a tornado hit my complex, we would have all surely died... there's no question about that. It was very scary, not to mention chaotic as the tornado passed less than a mile from where we were (which is, of course, very close). I stood there watching them smoke, longingly staring at the cigarettes. I knew that if I could just have a one, I would have felt better... just having that pacifier again. There's something about smoking during a terrifying event that calms you, just for a second. And the thought that "well, if I die in a tornado tonight, it's not going to matter if I smoked a cigarette" running through my head. Yes, the junkie was working overtime last night. But, I'm happy to say that no severe damage came due to the storm and that I'm still smoke free today. And now, I think I'm going to ask the landlords where exactly we're supposed to go in a tornado. Fun night! Luckily, everything worked out just fine. Crave the Quit!
