Gaby, thanks for the info I had not heard. I am lost for words, I also feel sad for her son who will never have a father or mother. Yes it is very sad about Dana Reeve. But hopefully her death will make more people aware that lung cancer is not just a smokers proplem. I was watching some of the specials about her and cancer on CNN last night. It was interesting that the the funding for lung cancer is so much lower that other types of cancer. Also what was interesting is the the monies the government got from suing the tobacco companies that was suppose to go to fund lung cancer reseach and other smoking related health problems has been used for other purposed. It seems that the government does not really care about what happens to smokers. All they want is the taxes that they get from tobacco.

For those of you who haven't heard yet: Sadly, Dana Reeve, wife of Christopher Reeve, passed away last night from lung cancer. I feel sad for her boy who now also lost his mother. From what I understand she didn't smoke, and yet got lung cancer. Just puts everything in perspective. I mean if a person who never smoked gets lung cancer, a smoker is probably ten times more likely to get it. This just confirms my decision to stay quit. Wow, I am shocked! I knew she had cancer and asked to have her privacy respected when she first announced it. But I assumed because I hadn't heard much that she had treatments and was doing fine. What a shame for their young son. So so sad. Very sad news about Dana Reeve. Goes to show you no one is exempt. She was a singer and more than likely had her share of second hand smoke before they banned smoking in bars & clubs. It was indeed sad news. In reading about it she was smoke free her entire life. However, a doctor stated that 1 out of 5 females who develop lung cancer are indeed smoke free. That is a sobering statistic. However, what is even more sobering is that 4 out of 5 cases of lung cancer in women are related to smoking. Not good odds. Stay quit and say a prayer you quit in time. Staying quit is the place to be. I for one want to stay near may children for awhile. Just goes to show anything can and will happen. Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
