ArwensMom. You are an inspiration. I was trying to figure out all of the nuances on this website and just read your (and others) postings for the last few days. You made it through what sounds like an unbearable craving, regardless of your co-worker's offer to buy you a pack -- bad person! Anyway, I am thrilled that you're still on the site and I admire your honesty in your postings -- I think there are moments when we each feel like the world will end if the craving doesn't end. I also admire everyone else's "tough love" comments and that no one gave you "permission" to have just one. Keep hanging in there. ArwensMom, Now that is awesome news !! That poor dog.. I'm just kidding.. your boyfriend's ability to walk to his appt. is tremendous. congradulations both of you all... The dog may be being sympathetic. My friend has a malamute and when my friend got sick one evening and was in bed feeling terrible, the dog jumped up on the bed and threw his big hairy paws over him and went to sleep. The dog did not sleep on the bed.. his place was beside the bed. Dogs are so cool. Glad to hear your good news, you needed some !! Hang Tuff ! Thank you redrosie. I don't know that I'm feeling stronger or better able to deal with the cravings. They are just not so bad today (yet) and do go away after awhile. That one day, where it never went away, that was terrible. If it had gone on into the next day I would have caved. I had no choice. But, it didn't, it did eventually subside. When I quit smoking the first time, years ago, it was the single worst experience in my life. This isn't nearly that bad probably because I'm using NRT.

We all must have them. Little benefits we never expected. Or perhaps the shock of something done today that couldn't be done before. My boyfriend went for a check up on his leg. He usually needs a wheelchair to get from his parking spot to the clinic. Not because he can't walk, it's painful but he does okay on crutches. But because he is so short of breath that he can't walk that far. He did it today! First time! Mine came last night when a dog that usually gives me a problem never got jumpy and I realized that the dog probably couldn't stand my cigarette breath and was trying to get away from me all this time. These personal benefits are important because it brings home right to the doorstep deep reasons why we should be glad we quit.

awesome post..... We have been told over and over and over and over (you get the picture) of the benefits to our bodies when we quit. But to experience it first hand is so important - makes your quit personal. I experience new smells and tastes almost daily, from things I thought I knew. That's the big difference for me right now (besides not wheezing when I breathe). thanks, ArwensMom..........for reminding us WHY we enjoy being non-smokers! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 52 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 791 Amount Saved: $351 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 18 Mins: 19 Seconds: 3

How are you doing today Arwensmom? Are you feeling stronger? Are the dogs still giving you kisses? Did you give your co-worker a kick in the butt for offering you a smoke? lol. Keep in touch.
