Work problems

Hi ,
I just recently finished EI sickness benefits. They do give 15 weeks coverage. There are extensions under particular circumstances if you meet the criteria. It's unfortunate that you have no work coverage. And I do understand the stressful environment you were working in as my son just finished a job and was in the industry for 7 years. I too could not handle work. Could not concentrate and it was affecting my job performance. Totally get it. But try the Service Canada Web site for assistance. Hope this helps. All the best.

Welcome Jayman,

I am sorry to read what you have been going through. It sounds like there is a lot on your plate right now. It also sounds like you are trying to access resources that can help you. Good work! That resourcefulness will serve you in getting well.

I encourage you to get started on the program. It will help with the depression and may even help with anxiety. Be sure to take notes as you will not be able to review the sessions once they are completed. Please know that depression, anxiety and social anxiety can be treated - you do not have to live your life like this forever. It can become easier.

How are you feeling today?

Hi,
New here. Recently had several bad panic/ anxiety attack last couple weeks. Have felt sad and down for a couple years now. Not officially diagnosed but every test i take and all the signs point to major depresion/anxiety. Going to see a doctor in 3 weeks :( uggh way to long of a wait. ER doctor gave me some ativan. long story short right.
Anyways, my work performance and time at work has gone right down hill. I cant concentrate, i zone out, im very tired and can barely just function  I know my job is one of the reasons for my depression. Iam a chef and it is a very stressful industry. I have been at this job for 5 years.  Its also an industry that looks down on weakness both mentally and physically with little sympathy. Your're expected to work long hours with little to no breaks. Calling in sick is also extremely frowned uppon. I know i need to find a new job or career but I also have social anxiety. I couldn't even imagine how an interview would go somewhere else. We have no type of health insurance or disability help. I know legally i have 10 personal days of which i have not used yet. i have looked into EI sickness and other Canadian social disability programs. I need advice and help from anyone on here please. I know this was a lot to read and take in but any advice would certainly help. Thanks
