Hi Freddy/Linda,
You're going to laugh, but, believe it or not, my name is also Linda!!!    The universe must have drawn us together to help each other.  I know I've absolutely been grateful for your words when you do come on and post.  I'm quite bad at it as well but though I don't always write down in my thought journal, I've really found a difference in how I feel by challenging my negative thoughts.  Sometimes it takes a lot of "investigation", like today for instance, but it's a great process and tool to have found.  I'm away from home for a couple of weeks, with my husbands blessing (he's been so wonderful), and I've been feeling guilty and selfish the past couple days, and having this tool to use has been a blessing.  I spoke with my insurance caseworker this morning and while initially I felt good after talking to her, for whatever reason, I became quite anxious.  But, again, this tool is helping alleviate some of these feeling.  I've spent more then a couple weeks on Session 5 and have now started to move forward.  
I'm really happy to hear that Skylar is feeling better!  You are a good mom!  And yes, it will be good for both of you to get out for walks once he is better.  I challenge you to try do so whether Skylar goes with you or not.  I've been really bad about getting out myself and am issuing myself that same challenge!

Hi rosiesmom,

Thanks for checking on me.  I am doing fairly well, however life is busy and I find that I am neglecting my worksheets ....a work in progress indeed.  I haven't been on the site because I was unable to login due to the technical difficulties.  I decided to change my username to my real name, Linda ...it seemed a bit odd being "Freddy" although it was a tribute to my brother, Alan who called me "Freddy the rock" when I was younger.   Skyler is doing a lot better....he is on medication and we have several sets of doggie stairs to help him get up on the couch and bed.  Once he gets back to where he was before his injury the vet suggested I take him on 10 minute walks to help improve his muscles so that will help get me out of the house. Take care & have a wonderful Easter with your family.

You haven't been on in a while and I just wanted to check and see how you are doing.  I seem to have turned a corner and the last few days have been brighter despite the fact the weather isn't.  I hope you are well and look forward to seeing you post again.

Hi Freddy,
Thank you for checking on me.  I'm having a difficult week.  I've not physically been feeling very good which is really doing a number on my mental well being.  I've only gone on one walk this week and was very drained after.  It snowed quite a bit yesterday and I decided to stay in but did take the cat to the vet so I did get out for a bit.  Today my daughter wants me to go to the mall with her once she's done tutoring so I should do that.

I highly recommend watching "The Happiness Advantage" by Shawn Achor....it is a short youtube presentation that highlights happiness and retraining your brain.  It recommends focusing on the positive by 1. writing 3 things that you are grateful for each day    2. journaling a positive daily experience    3. exercise    4.  meditation   5. random acts of kindness  I am really going to try this.  Who's with me? :)  rosiesmom???  are you Linda?  That's funny if you are, because that is my name too...same spelling

Hi Freddy.
Today is the first day in what seems like forever that i'm at a 5.  The lowest in a long time.  I did go for my walk today and add a little distance to it.  Not much bet enough that I got to see the kids out at recess laughing and playing.  All in all, not a bad day so far.  I'm even reading which I haven't done in a very long time.  I hope your day has been a good one today.

The yo yoing is hard, isn't it?  I'm so glad that you are forcing yourself to get out for a walk,,,so sorry you fell...one step forward, two steps backwards.  It is amazing how it takes such effort sometimes to get out that door...we always feel better once we do...again, it must be our minds doing us in.  As it has been pointed out with depression, the behaviour has to come first, then the motivation...let's remember that!   "Fake it 'til you make it"....or "until you become it".  I hope tomorrow is a better day for you and me both:).

Hi Freddy,
I've been struggling the last couple of days.  I feel like I'm falling and never going to stop.  I have gotten out the house a few times for walks and always wonder why it is so hard to get out there.  The walks were enjoyable and refreshing, yet I have such a hard time getting out that door.  Yesterday my husband came with me which was really nice.  I slipped on the ice and banged up my knee and he was so caring and concerned as he has been this whole journey.  I probably won't walk today but I did go out into the sun and be with the dogs, watching them play, trying to keep them from tackling me to the  ground.  :-) It feels good to be in touch with you, being able to share the good and the bad. You sound like a remarkable woman and I know that you'll break your patterns of mentally map out your routines.  If one of your girlfriends is a particularly close one, you may want to share what you're going through with her.  You may be surprised in the response and may find someone you can talk with, especially when your low.  Sometimes confidence is a shield and she/they may be having a struggle as well.  Good luck Freddy and thank you for your support as well.

Today is a better day:). Sometimes you have to try not to over think things and just get out that door.!  So often my mind can convince me not to.  I find myself mentally doing the worksheets rather than putting a pen to paper...I will work on that!  My husband is really the only one that knows the extent of my "affliction".  My friends and family really have no idea of how hard it is sometimes for me to do the simplest things that many take for granted.  I find myself mentally preparing myself to do errands ahead of time.  I suppose it gives me some sense of preparedness and control.  I even have a mental map of the route and errands that I do that is the most efficient and probably will get me back home the quickest.  I am going to stop somewhere spontaneously...usually my mind convinces me that I can do that another day.  I will work on that too!  Pretty well all of my girl friends are super confident, strong women and have no idea of how hard it is sometimes for me to do the simplest things that they do without a second thought.  People would be surprised to know this about me as I am pretty good in covering up and sometimes making up excuses as to why I cannot do things.  I have eluded to it to a couple of them but unless you are trained in psychology or are going through it yourself ,I feel that it is very hard for them to truly  understand.  Sometimes I rely on having a few drinks to loosen up and take on a different persona.  I am kind of a Jekyll and Hyde ....very talkative and chatty and then the next day I go back in my shell and become very quiet and reserved.  I'm not sure I can ever meld the two personalities.  Thanks rosiesmom for your continued support and good luck in your journey.
