Your Top 3 - Summer Hobbies

Hi Pete,

I hear ya! You best not put yourself through physical discomfort if you can avoid it. Do take advantage of the cooler days when there is a breeze to get out and get fresh air.

Hi Strength,

My need to stay indoors in hot weather is due to physical discomfort, I think, rather than avoiding contact with others (though that is an added bonus). I really dislike being hot and strong sunshine gives me a headache. And round where I live, a lot of people have barbecues. The smell of the fuel and the smoke from the cooking turns my stomach. And, yes, there's the people and the noise they make.

I don't mean to be a misery despite what my family think - surely it is natural to avoid, and not to enjoy, something which makes you feel physically unwell.

That is interesting Pete, I used to feel similar to you about wanting to hide in the shade or indoors...and I think it had a bit to do with me not wanting to be out and about with others.
Since working the program and seeing my therapist I am truly beginning to enjoy going out and enjoying nature and the wonders our earth has to offer...it has been a gradual process and there are still certain days where all I want to do is lay down and watch movies..but more often than before my body wants to be outside and active..so I've been listening to it...

Unfortunately I dislike heat and sunshine (I can't help it, I just feel physically so uncomfortable and drained when the weather is hot), and I do my best to avoid it. Of course, it makes me feel even more of a deviant and a misfit when almost everyone else is banging on about how 'lovely' it is and I feel the complete opposite.

So, my main Summer hobby is sticking indoors or in the shade when I have to go out. Just waiting for the Autumn to come around, really.

Hi Samantha,

I do love the heat and the sunshine!

Some things I do when I am not in school or working during the summer:

Play Sims 3 (I like to make movie stars and musicians and have them all live in the same town)

Go to the local water park with my daughter and watch her have so much fun on the slides

Read lots of books (I always have at least 3 going, usually in different rooms of the house)

Watch more movies since I have much more time

Take my daughter and her friend to the local mall to get frozen yogurt and pick out a colorful bottle of nail polish (I really love watching her enjoy herself)

Members,

Summer is a great time to incorporate new hobbies or interests into our lives! With the lovely sunshine and long days what 3 hobbies will you try?
