How to welcome new members?

Hi Breezin,

What a great way to start off this brainstorm! Thanks for this wonderful suggestion. It is a very good idea and we will definitely keep this mind to encourage new members to post and introduce themselves.

Members, what other ideas do you have for making new members feel welcome and comfortable to post and join in on discussions?

Perhaps a more personal welcome emailed from a Health educator to the member that just joined explaining some of the benefits of posting, (e.g. peer support, questions answered, help or discussion with certain problems or personal challenges they are experiencing, etc).  Also in the same email encouraging them to introduce themselves and meet other members.   The internet can be a very impersonal place.  Sometimes a personal greeting can help with that.

Hi everyone!

I have been thinking today...It seems like we have a lot of new members joining but not too many member posting.  How do you think we can encourage new members to post?  Let's brainstorm some ideas!
