Hi Simon!

Welcome! I think you'll find many people here are in situations similar to yours and that many of them find the program on this site to be immensely helpful! You seem to be very self-aware and that's a good start on the road to recovery. I hope you keep posting and tell us more about your progress and how you are doing.

Hi and welcome!
I think you've hit the target.  The Depression Center has many resources available to you.  Take advantage of them is my advice.  Post as often and frequently as you need to/want to, and give feedback when you can.
Hope you find as much success in your recovery HERE as I have found HERE.  Of course, I had to work the sessions and post, etc.  I finally got a routine and it works for the most part.

Again, welcome.

Welcome Rhodiebody.

You have come to the right place.  This program can help you achieve your goals.  Have you devised a plan on when you intend to work on the program?

Welcome to DC, Rhodieboy.   I see a bit of myself in everyone who posts here for the first time.    We have all been where you are right now....and some of us are still there or have had a set back to there.    This is a personal struggle, but being able to keep in contact with people who are struggling with the same thing is very motivational in itself.    We get and give support, motivation, ideas and just plain old caring.

Glad you're here.    I look forward to your posts.

Hello everyone;

As a newbie I would like to introduce myself, I have suffered depression on and off for over twenty years tried different medications and seen various therapists along the way. I consider myself to be a logical and reasonably intelligent person and as such have been my own worst enemy on my road to recovery.

I know the thoughts I have are irrational and the feelings I have are not healthy but over the years my depression has come to shape who I am, shy, angry, lonely etc. I want to be able to socialise, I want to be able to concentrate again so I can study new things. I want to be able to exercise as my physical health is now a mess.

So here I am on this site hoping to move forward, lets hope I have the strength to go the course and not fail like I normally do

Simon
