Stress, Part III

15 years ago 0 910 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Well I can't say I intake no caffeine or sugar. I eat chocolate in small doses and I love chocolate milk.

I try to keep the chocolate milk to no more then one glass a day. The chocolate, I try to eat sparingly when I feel well not nervous lol. I rarely eat more then a third of a chocolate bar a day. I avoid chocolate rich desserts especially in large quantities, and especially after 4 pm.

As for replacing the coffee. I stopped drinking caffeinated alltogether. I drink decaf coffee. I also drink coffee substitute made from cereals. My fave is Caf-Lib. It is warm and goes great with milk and a tad of honey. I drink decaffeinated teas and herbal teas.

wildcat,

I wrote that post to you with a tea in hand...hehe...so your addiction is understood
However, my tea is caffeine free!
Members, have any of you tried to cut down on your caffeine intake? How did it go? Did you find any good substitutes for caffeine?
Please share your experiences with us

awww you are harsh Breanne...
how many smokers and alcolics have you counciled...  well you should put me in the same basket.

I started taking the caffine in 92-93 to survive my first year at Concordia and have been addicted to it since.
Tea is a social thing.  I drink because it is the girl's thing to do together at a particular time together. So when I am not in the context I forget the tea...

Moderation is key!

Wildcat, maybe you could cut down to one coffee and one tea a day?!
Goofy, have you tried to unsweetened tea? It might be just as good....
Jmariah001, great to hear that you're going to keep an eye on your pop intake

Members, let us know how it goes!
Please feel free to share any tips or suggestions that you may have in regards to relieving stress

Every once in a while after I drink too much pop I will notice I feel a little nervous, never gave it much thought that the caffeine was doing it. I guess I should watch from now on.

I drink sweet iced tea.  Is sugar also in this category - not counting the caffeine in the tea?

Members,

Welcome to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Day (CBT) on the forums!

This week we will be talking about stress…

The following is a list of stress relievers:

  •  Cutting down on caffeine

  •  Regular Exercise

  •  Meditation

  •  Sleep

  •  Breaks and leisure activities

  •  Having realistic expectations

  •  Reframing

  •  Venting/Support System

  •  Humor

This week, when feeling stressed we encourage you to employ one of these strategies. Post up how many times you used them here and your experience with this approach.

We also encourage you to keep track of your caffeine intake and rate your stress level at the end of the day. Is there a correlation? Let us know!
