Cymbalta

Sugar,

Welcome to the Depresssion Center.  Using the activity tracker is simple, just click on "Mood Tracker" in your Toolbox (under Interactive Tools), in the calendar click the appropriate date "Create Entry" then fill out the form and click "Save my results."  You also have the option of printing the Mood Tracker Monitoring Form and filling it out by hand.

To review your results click on "Your Notes and Medication Usage" at the top of the screen and for a view in graph form click on "Daily Results."   Let us know if you require further assistance.

About Cymbalta, some individuals may develop tolerance as they require dosage increases inorder to maintain the benefits.  Consult your doctor if you feel that it is not working as effectively, perhaps he/she will prescribe a change in dosage or a different medication.

Also, if you are taking Cymbalta, avoid alcohol, MAOIs, and other central nervous system depressants.

Hope this helps.

Hi Breanne & thank you for the words of support. I am very hopeful that this program will help; but I cannot figure out how to use the activity tracker either.

Ralph2,  hope you have good look with the new meds and I wish you the best in your interview process.  I'm sure you'll do as good this time as you did last time.  Keep us posted on how the new medication works and keep hanging in there until it kicks in!

Sugar, welcome to the support group.  I look forward to more posts from you.

I am new here - hello to everyone. I take Cymbalta, and it really has worked for me for years. I am just now feeling worse, and I cannot/don't even work. I feel like a prisoner in my own home. I don't have the tools that are offered here, so I hope to learn many new things. My goal is to become employed, and feel better about myself & life in general.

Well finally got ahold of my doctor and she switched me on to a new medication(Citalopram). Hopefully this will be better. Like I said it has been strange, beside the physical side effects of the cymbalta, I was feeling very irritable and angry most of the time. Didn't really lose my temper, but wanted too. Anyways, have an interview tomorrow with the post office. Funny thing is I am starting over with them too. Went all the way thru the interview process with them last year and they offered me a job, but I decided at the time that I wanted to work fulltime and drive truck. I guess if at first you don't succeed try, try, try, try again?

Ralp2,

Many here have struggled with starting or stopping medications. In general, most medications of this nature take time to build a therapeutic level in your system. As it does, the effect it produces becomes more pronounced and stable.

These transitions can be incredibly difficult but having understanding family members and friends will definitely help the process. Have you spoken to your wife about some of the mood swings you are experiencing? Have you found these conversations helpful?

Please keep us updated on how you are doing. We are here for you!
