Online self esteem program

Hi Windsybarbie,

I just wanted to let you know that those thinking distortions drive me crazy.  I can't seem to get a handle on them either.  I think I'm doing so well and then I'm told I'm not.  It's confusing and irritating.

Just wanted you to know you're not alone!

Windsy, no problem, I love to learn about new programs/books, too.  I had a great New Year babysitting and I look forward to a less depressed 2009!  I've also read Norman Vincent Peale - The Power of Positive Thinking!!!!!  Though consistent application is again the issue.
I am still on Session IV.  Still identifying those negative core beliefs and documenting documenting documenting!  Lots of stuff to document.  Distortions are hard for me to identify, so I can relate to hard to understand.  Hang in there and don't forget to ask questions, the moderators can help clarify those you have difficulty with or heck, we'll all try to help.

HI Goofy:

Thank You for that information as I have not read that book yet.  Thank you for replying to me and I hope you had a good new year.  Take Care....I am now on section 5 of the CBT program, but distortion of my thoughts is hard for me to really understand so I will be going slowly on this program.  Windsy

Windsybarbie,  so glad to hear you are getting some relief from your pain and starting to work on other issues.  I use the Emotions Anonymous daily meditation (also 12 step) and find it comforting and reflective.
Have you ever heard of the author Charles L Whitfield, M.D.  He wrote a book called "Healing the Child Within".  I think it is awesome, bought it and read it - of course, application is the key and every time I read it I get something new from it.  He also wrote some other good books, but can't seem to locate them on my bookshelves right now and my memory is not so good.
Keep posting and let us know how the CBT pain management and these other projects are going.  I look forward to hearing from you....soon!

Happy New Year Everyone:

Thank You for everyone being here for being a support for me during these difficult times.  I have decided to work on mindfulness meditation and work on stress management strategies for 2009.  I went to my local health clinic to go for counseling on stress management, unless they think I am seeing too many professionals at this time.  I intellectually know what to do but I don't seem to put it practically.  It took me MANY years before I could deep breathe or even feel comfortable breathing.  I need to monitor myself and not do too much and be aware of my triggers and warning signs like my WRAP indicates.  Take Care Everyone.   I received about 5 trigger point injections yesterday in my neck/shoulders and back and the burning has subsided down somewhat.  I even enjoyed my massage today as he worked on my jaw, TMJ, and I was able to cry which I could not for about 3 months.  I have been holding back as I have been numb emotionally for a long time, now I have to let things come as they come.  I have to notice what is happening with my body and emotions and do not lay judgement on them.

Hi Everyone:

I was browsing through the internet looking for information on "inner child" and I found an interesting site.  It has LOTS of information but there are strategies on recovery from low self esteem.  It is based on a 12 step program for self esteem and I have started the program and it is very similar to CBT and what we are learning on these sessions.

There is a self esteem inventory and information how to cope.  There are many online manuals that you can read or print.  Take Care and I hope this information will help others as it is helping me.
