Thanks for reply. I actually studied Microbiology at University but ended up in a management job as I needed at least a Masters to get a good job in research and I HAD to move away from my parents and this pays the bills. I honestly don't know what my ideal job would be. I love art, nature, organising things, being creative.

I phoned my doctor yesterday and told him about the side effects. He asked me to hang in there a few more days and if they are still bad, I should come back and see him.

Major stresses? My relationship with my mother is very bad. My job sucks. My husband cheated on me and I find it a bit hard to let go and trust him like I used to.....

Hi Rose,   Sounds like you are feeling quite overwhelmed about many aspects in your life.   Is it possible for you to identify 2-3 major stressors in your life and then reflect on how you can either diminish or eliminate some of the stress?   What are your interests.............what type of job did you envision for yourself when you were younger?   I also want to caution you regarding the wellbutrin..........although side effects can be common and minimal please monitor the intensity of your side effects. It is possible that this may not be the best-suited medication for you.     Faryal, Health Educator

Currently my job is not well defined. Before my current position I was working shifts which contributed to marriage problems. I have been given the option to move out of my current role back to shifts but I don't think I could handle the pressure of shifts ontop of this confusion I am in. I am so unsure of my future. I would change jobs in a heartbeat if I knew what I really wanted to do.....

I will stick with the Wellbutrin for a while but have noticed a bit of a lightheaded feeling the past few days. I am also having trouble sleeping. I just figure that if they make me feel better I will take the side-effects with no complaints.

Hi Rosie, Some anti-depressants work for one and not another. The Doc's really don't know why.
I was on 60mg Celexa for a year and now cut that to 40mg + 150 Wellbutrin (?) And feel way,way better. Not as druggy and dopey, lethargic.
I started a job for the first time in two years and haven't quit or got fired and I'm loving it.!

It all takes time and patience. Hang in there!!

Rosie,

What is it exactly what you do? Do you feel that you are doing your best? Do you enjoy your job?
Perhaps it would be helpful to sit back and reflect upon your job, and how you feel about it. If you are finding your work pointless, maybe you should consider a change. Is that an option?

hello again rosie,
wellbutrin did nothing for me but make me lightheaded. it's also called zyban and they use it to help quit smoking. you might need bigger and better. i take lexapro now (had taken paxil for 3 years) the lexapro kicked in within 3-4 days!  hang in there,
i really believe drugs help, didn't like the idea at first, but it beats self medicating - drinking, drugging, hiding. good luck!

I needed to get something off my chest. I am feeling really miserable today. I have changed over to my new pills (Wellbutran) but obviously it will take a while before they start making me feel better. I have always been a fighter in life, when I am presented with a challenge, I fight my way through. I just feel exhausted of fighting everything. I feel like I don't have strength left to fight. I have to remind myself of my responsibilities constantly because my desire to run away from it all is so overwhelming. At this stage, I am just taking one day at a time. I have found it useful to write down how I felt doing certain activities- it releases some of the stuff I bottle up inside. I just feel like my life has no direction. I feel completely lost and no-one seems to be able to help me. People at work are commenting that I am not doing my best anymore. How can I give my best if everything seems so pointless?

Hi Rosie. Some good insight there. You've got to take care of yourself first. It sounds like you are on the right path.

Hi Rosie,

You aren't being selfish at all, you do need to take care of yourself in order to care for others.  If you lose yourself you become just a slave.

Take some time for you Rosie, and feel good about it.  Keep us posted on how you're doing.
