hello,
just thought maybe AA could help you - you would have a male sponsor - you could get alot off your chest at the meetings and work on your alcohol problems and not get sexually enmeshed w/counselor. never give up trying, there's always hope - i hope!

Hello RCguy,

Welcome to the forums. I really hope this site helps you a lot. I am doing the program and I find it helpful. I agree with Sylvie that finding a therapist that is suitable for onself is requires shopping around. But hang in there, I am sure you will find something to suit your needs. Welcome to the forums.

did you tell the therapist about the crush?

Sometimes the professional can see the emotion for what it really is... not a true attration but a displacement of a whole bunch of positive emotions that rise up together and excite and stimuate ... due to progress and hope and   joy  ...

just an idea

rcguy,   Unfortunatly seeking help and finding the right counselor can be tricky. It's important to find the right person, someone who you feel comfortable with, who you can be honest to and talk openly with.  We suggest you keep trying, you may need to try working with a few before you find someone that fits with you.   Regarding your other concerns, we do have sister sites that offer great support. You can visit our newly launched AlcoholHelpCenter.net,  it incorporates great information, tools and resources to help you cut down or quit drinking. We also have a similiar program for those that experience anxiety and related ailments. Please visit, PanicCenter.net.    Continue sharing with us, we truely want to help and will do our best to help you through this. Remember that you are in fact inportant and we appreciate your active participation.     Sylvie, Bilingual Health Educator

Hi members and staff,

Can I win the battle is the big question I ponder; let me explain.

Having many severe depression episodes, I have had several different talk therapists. These include MSM's, Psychologists, Addiction councilors, and Psychiatrists. So far none of them have been able to open up the pain and fear that makes me a failure as a whole person.

For example, one very attractive Social-worker, came very close to making me open up and I sadly developed a huge crush on her, forcing me end therapy prematurely.

One other therapist [female as well] intimatated  me so  much that I feared going to her sessions.

So this is my battle to find a professional therapist that can make me comfortable enough to fight through the mental barriers that keep me from getting well.

For the record, I take 225mg of Effexor, and 250mg of Welbutrin daily. Have an alcohol abuse problem and social phobia.
of course chronic depression too.
So can I find a pschotherapist, or should i bother to try?
Any thoughts or comments are welcome.

Be well and safe........rcguy
