Ambien

Ambien 10mg has worked great for me, except for the vicious snoring and the slight tolerance. I've been considering the CR, since my chief insomnia problem is maintaining sleep rather than falling asleep. I took Provigil for a very short time, but stopped it since it did nothing at all for me. For thoroughness, I'm taking Wellbutrin XL 300 mg and Prozac 40 mg in the morning, and Ambien 10 mg and Klonopin .5-1 mg (PRN) at night.

Thanks for the support. Except for Ambien being such a weird med it has been helpful in getting me to sleep again. I feel pretty fortunate that I have an MD who encourages me to do research and ask questions, and I send him off to investigate different supplements and so forth, he recomended that I take meletonin as I weaned from Ambien. For the most part, I have been the one who is more cautious in the med thing, starting medications slower than recopmended, reading WAY too much, but this is the "Brave New World" isn't it? Before this episode, my MD had been wanting to increase meds and I was hesitant. But today came the sort of bad news...since I foolishly quit my job, and my health benefits end on 4/30, I registered for COBRA benefits until I'm back at a job with them...$400.00 a month! yikes! Then I discovered I had 9 months left to vest in retirement....ah, at least it was with the state, so I can get back on that plan easily...but talk about not seeing the forest for the trees...ugh. Despite that I am beginning to feel more engaged, even worked out today...

Prunella, I'm sorry to hear you are struggling so with your medications. I have to admit, I haven't had any experience with any of those, but it's important to keep your doctor informed of side effects, as it sounds like you are doing. I wish I could be of more help. Keep me posted. Kelly

Prunella, Unfortunately, as moderators we are unable to prescribe medication or give medical advice. The members can share their experiences with you :) You may also want to contact your doctor or pharmacist for information on dosages and side effects. Hope this help, Josie ____________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team.

Prunella here. I currently take 150 mg Lamictal, 225 mg Effexor XR, 100 mg Provigil and 12.5 mg Ambien CR I wanted to get off of the Ambien, its a strange med, my psydoc changed me from regular Ambien where I was weaning down to 2 mg or so, life got very stressful and I went back to 5 mg and then 10 mg. Apparantly regular Ambien is being cracked down on as a long term script so he changed it to this new CR version, which was an even higher dose... Well, Ambien has a weird side effect, sometimes you can't remember anything. I have recieved packages from Amazon with books I don't remember ordering, phone calls I don't recall having, and most recently an episode that landed me in a psychiatric facility. Oh that also involved a few drinky-poos and I have tossed all the booze out of the place... My friend who ended up calling 911 confiscated and flushed the Ambien, but I filled my current script and have been halving the dose. Is anyone else taking this med? I want to never take it again....great sleep, lousy med. I have only started theProvigil which I have seen referred to as a "mood brightener" and have seen it used for ADHD, initially it was prescribed to help with my concentration, and did help me feel more engaged in the day's activities. I had done really well (for me) for nearly a year, and with therapy was and am becoming better able to ID mood shifts, but this time, the sh*t hit the fan. I guess I'm glad it did, since I obviously need more help, but these meds...it's all so scary. And, yes, I get the shock feelings with Effexor too, if I miss it and when my dose was recently increased.
