Hi comeback_kid, Welcome to the site! We too hope that you find our program helpful. CBT is only effective when you do the homework. Worksheets help you track your homework exercises and CBT is a lot of work! As you move through the Depression Program the worksheets will change as you change. Make sure you give yourself time to do the homework properly - you know your depression best so it's really up to you to decide how often you do your homework. Take your time when you do your homework, there is no rush! Each session in the Depression Program is based on previous sessions, and if you track your mood with your Mood Tracker (and keep notes in the spaces provided) you'll see much improvement over the comming weeks. At the beginning of each session we give you a Weekly Review, which allows you to see how far you've progressed. We save your Weekly Review results in your Session Diary, so you will see a collection of results, which are all based on what you write in your worksheets. CBT is a lot of work but the good news is that if you follow the program it will all come together for you as you start to feel better. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. Casey ______________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team

Welcome comeback kid. I believe that you are right...it is the self destructive thinking and negativity that brings us to the low points of our lives. I have been working at CBT and find it is a big help. Stopping the negative thoughts can be so difficult, but it's the first step. I have also been keeping sort of a track record on negative comments I hear during the day. It is staggering how negative our whole society is. No matter what the situation people will always find fault with it. Eg. When it's sunny out "it's too hot!" when it rains "it's always raining I wish it would go away". People always seem to find fault in everything around them. It's not the way to live. You are staying optimistic which is the best thing to do. I hope you are able to see your Dr. soon and remember we are all here to help. Good luck and take care.

Well it is day three, and I am trying to remain optimistic. I have heard, and read some very positive things about CBT in the treatment of depression. I am 41 and have suffered from depression for as long as I can remember. It's kind of funny to think back to when I was a kid and now understanding why I was such a miserable little cuss. I have kind of dabbled in therapy, and various medications but due to the current state of health insurance for the treatment of mental health issues I was allways forced to stop the therapy short due to finances. I have had some success with a prozac/lithium combination, but have not taken either for about a year, and hope to soon get back on the meds to curb the uncontrollable crying spells I find sneek up on me out of nowhere at very inappropriate times. So my hope is that through this program I can begin to recognize, and possibly start to change the negative and self destructive thinking that I believe is the root cause of my depression. I would also like to tell everyone that we the depressed people of the world are really exceptional people in so many ways. I believe that it is when we have to conform to the standards, and rules of our society that the depression becomes a bigger issue. Thanks all, and best wishes to all.
