Thank you all for the encouragement. It certainly helps to know you're not alone and being able to talk with someone that knows what you are going through is a relief.

Rayne, Welcome to the site! I understand how you feel about not wanting to be on meds, but we have to remember that it is just like someone who has diabetes and needs medication to keep their blood sugar at an appropriate level. When I had my culminating "episode" about 8 years ago, I was hospitalized, very sick and passively suicidal. If I have to take medication to keep from going back to that place I will! I don't ever want to feel like that again. I'm willing to make that concession to keep from being curled up in my bed in the fetal position, not eating, and not caring about anything! It is scary to take medication and not know how long you will have to take it, maybe forever. But with constant medical supervision, as I said before, it isn't any different than someone that has to take blood pressure medicince or insulin. If you want to talk, we're all here for you. Kelly

Rayne, Welcome to the group. I hope this site helps you like it has helped me. I found that just venting and talking to people online, who don't judge you and are going through the same thing really helps. Good luck - Sharon

rayne, Welcome to our support community and thank you for sharing your story. Please take the time to look around and sign up for our program. Many of our members have raved about the progress :) If you look to the left of the screen under "PROGRAM TOOLS" you'll find our Depression Test. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. This may better help assess the situation. If you ever have any questions or concerns please click the "CONTACT US" link at the bottom of the page. We're open to any questions or concerns you may have. I am glad to have found this site and know that there are others that feel as I do. I have been diagnosed with dysthimia and major depressive dissorder about 7 years ago. But I honestly don't remember a time that I didn't feel "different" and usually down. I struggle with memory loss and concentration, focus. I would love to have them all back! My Dr. had prescribed Wellbutrin about 5 years ago and I have been on it ever since. Recently I am going through a major episode and he has added Effexor to the regime. I don't want to be on meds but I just don't know how to cope otherwise. And truth be told I am rather frightened of my moods lately and the thought of not getting better is very sobering. Enough to make me take them. Hopefully I will be able to get drug free one day. But I will take things day by day and worry about that at another time. I wish the best of luck and healing to all. We all deserve to be happy.
