Zoloft - For me? and Side Effects

kendy, thanks for the reply. Last night I took only 12.5mg, seemed to help. I also didn't take my Singulair, rather I took it this morning. I take that for rhinitis, not asthma, so timing isn't important. I do feel much better today. I think that I will try the 12.5mg for a week or two and up to 25mg, if needed. I read that some people are slow metabolizers, and I think I must be one. the 25mg that I took the other night wouldn't even phase most people at all. I did read, though, that SSRI's are CYP450 3A4 inhibitors, and Singulair is metabolized by 3A4...interesting, eh? Also, both drugs are highly bound to serum proteins, and an overload means that something won't be bound...essentially an overdose due to the high conc. of free drug in your body. Thanks for the reply and good luck with your continued treatment!! Have a great afternoon, Finneycat

I've been on Zoloft and had no bad side effects. Have also been on Paxil which did not work well for me. Currently am on generic Celexa and Wellbutrin. I guess I'm fortunate because as far as I can tell I've had no side effects except for some sleepiness but as I take them at night, it hasn't been a problem. Doctor said that Wellbutrin can make it difficult to sleep so I take that one no later than 3 PM.

Hello all. Dr. Just prescribed Zoloft to me. I'm especially sensitive to medications and so was very apprehensive about taking this stuff. So, I tried it last night, and I woke up with a splitting headache and a sense of being very sleepy and in slow motion. Continued throughout this morning. Also, dry mouth, pretty bad diarrhea and I got next to no sleep last night. Is this common? Does it pass? I put a call into the Dr., but I'd like to hear from real people with real experience. All I took was 25mg after eating at about 9pm. Maybe this med isn't for me? I'm not even sure that I need the meds, but he said to take it. Help??? Thanks, Finneycat.
