New to Depression

Hi Sangha: I've been dealing with MD for a few years now but I remember when I was first diagnosed--it sounds like you are a step ahead of where I was then because I spent at least a year denying there was a problem before I got help and even when I went for treatment it took a long time for me to take all the meds my doctor wanted me too--SSRIs were ok with me but because of my job I was very hesitant with anything else and I really needed more at that point. Catching this illness while you are so young is good too, that way you can get it before it really has a chance to mess up your life.

Sangha & Xphile, You have come to the right place! Please feel free to roam the site at your own pace. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find our Depression Test. This test is not a diagnostic tool and is not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. If you have any question or concerns with our site or please contact Support Department at support@depressioncenter.net. We are open to any questions or concerns you may have. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Melanie ________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team Edited on 3/15/2005 @ 3:31:48 PM by The Support Team

Hello All, At 29 I am having my 1st MD episode. It was triggered by a stessful professional environment and the loss of sleep. After I quit my job I was hospitalized for 3 days due to my emotional breakdown. I struggled with the idea of depression for 6 weeks before I sought help. I started taking Remeron and Klonopin (for sleep) nearly 7 weeks ago. Since then I was prescribed Lexapro in addition. I feel less anxious but the hopelessness and lack of vitality are ever present. I am lucky to have my mother helping me tremendously during this crisis and the Buddhist community which I am a member of, in my town. I am curious if there are folks out there also new to depression or anyone willing to share their feelings about their initial experience with this mood disorder and how you reacted when you were first afflicted? Thank you and all the best.
