Hi Eman Please don't leave this. Look after yourself by going to the doctor and start healing.

Eman, Please reconsider - or at least set a new date. We can all totally understand and relate to your hesitation with this. The unfamiliar is scary - but think of the good that can come of it. From your message it sounds like you just recently gained some insight into your condition about 5 or 6 months ago. This is a huge step and seeking assistance at this time is very important. Keep us posted and let us know how everything is. Casey __________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team

Hi Eman I think that everyone who has seen a pshychiatrist was afraid the first time. The first time you went to the dentist I am sure that you were also afraid. I was also afraid the first time. I did not know what to expect or what was going to happen. It did not take me long to realise that depression is like anything else that goes wrong in your body. If you have toothache you go and see a dentist. The same applies to a pshychiatrist. About the people and you wanting to do this on your own: I made the same mistake. I did all of it alone, just to find out later that if I had been honest and asked somebody for help they would have been more than willing to go with me and help me. Be honest with the people that are near to you and see what they say. If they really love you they will understand and be supportive. Good luck and please let us know how it went.

Yes, yes, and yes...most of my life I have suffered from anxiety and depression, but I couldn't get up the nerve to see a doctor about it until I had to help two of my friends who also were even more depressed than me. One of them was admitted into a hospital, and the other one had appointments at a hospital right away. I on the other hand was not as bad as they were, so I had to wait to see a psychiatrist a little longer, but because I and a friend went to the doctor together, I was finally able to get up the courage to talk about my own depression too. We held each other's hands as it were. My friend had already gone through depression as a teenager and had gotten treatment with medications; I had just suffered through my depression alone as a teenager. I cried a lot on the first admission of my problems, but finally admitted my problems for the first time...that was 12 years ago. I have had my ups and downs through all these times, but at the moment my medication is holding back my anxiety, and my depression is managable, but as you, I am looking for support by talking to others on this site, and by comforting others on this site. If you had a supportive person to go with it might be easier for you, on the other hand maybe you'd rather be alone. I hope all goes well...

Eman, You have come to the right place! Please feel free to roam the site at your own pace. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find our Depression Test. This test is not a diagnostic tool and is not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. This will help better assess the situation and put you more at ease. If you have any question or concerns with our site or please contact us support@depressioncenter.net. We are the Support Specialist for The Depression Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Josie

hello .. here is my problem ... I have an appointment after tomorrow to see a pyschiatrist , I suffer from depression and stuff like that since I was a child and I couldn't understand my condition untill 5 or 6 months ago , I hardly accepted the need to see a doctor and tell him about this matter , seing this kind of physician is not familiar where I live , I've never known anybody seing one , that makes me so nervous , going to the hospital asking about psychiatry clinic or whatever its name , I really wanted to tell somebody to come with me , but I didn't and I won't , nobody will understand , and its better for me to do it alone .. have anybody experienced anything like that ?? how did you go through it , was it difficult for you to see a doctor ??
