TextTextHello Shannon, I am pooh also a new member here but not new to depression unfortunalty. I am a nurse and have been for many years. Have seen too much of it all in my opinion. BUT I know from experiance (not as tramatic as yours) but tramatic the same that councling is the ONLY HELP you also need to find a different pdoc as yours will not help you. Finding the fit can be very hard ( I still have not found one ) but I see patients every day who have found the perfect fit and it all goes so much better then! HUGS pooh

Hi Shannon I also suffer from major depression and ptsd. I understand completely your thoughts and frustrations. One of the things I find most frustrating is that it is impossible to make anyone who hasn't been through trauma understand all the problems and hurt we face. They don't understand the fear, the frustration, the hopelessness, the flashbacks or the nightmares. In my opinion I think you need to find a new therapist and a new psychiatrist. I can't believe that you are suffering from depression and the guy said medication wouldn't help you. I am lucky because my shrink is so patient and so caring. It took 6 months and lots of experimentation before he found the right combo of meds for me. I have to take 3 anti depressants in combo to feel half okay. I must have tried 20 different meds and sleeping pills. But he stuck by me and we found the right combo. I hope you can switch and find a caring shrink. If the therapy isn't working at all I tend to think that the therapist is not right for you. I know that an awful lot of people have to go through a few therapists before they find the right one for them. Does your therapist specialize in ptsd? My ptsd is from childhood sexual abuse. My therapist specializes in sexual abuse and ptsd. Maybe you could find a therapist who specializes. I know that the therapy has helped me so much. In fact I am sure that it saved my life a few times. I really hope that you can find the right people to help you. You can feel better. I know how tough this battle is. However I am sure that you have the strength to overcome this. Look at what you have made it through so far! I wish you the very best. hugs heather

Dear Shannon, To say that I empathize would be misleading. I have not been through what you are going through, neither, its likely, have the other people you are seeking help from. I do however deeply sympathize and understand the importance of your children to you. It must be frustrating for you that you are not benefiting from your treatment. However, as a support specialist I recommend that you see your family doctor as soon as possible and discuss in detail your concerns. Please keep posting your thoughts and concerns, I am here for you. Take care, Susanne

my name is shannon. i'm 33 years old, a mother of three, full time student in the nursing program. last year at this time i was beaten within inches of my life. i've been diagnosed with major depressive disorder and post traumatic stress syndrome. i have been on 5 different anti-depressants since may of this year, i'm also taking restoril to help me sleep, and xanax for anxiety. i've been suffering with depression as far back as i can remember. i've always been in abusive relationships, jumped from man to man. also have many other problems. i'm currently seeing a counselor, which by the way isn't helping. i've also seen a psychiatrist, who said medication isn't going to help me, only time will help. well if i'm relying on time to help when in the hell is it going to happen? i'm so angry at everyone all the time, i'm afraid to show any emotion. i take my anger out on the wrong people. my family has no idea what i'm going through and it's hard to explain my feelings and my situation to people who don't understand. i'm totally disgusted with people, and just life in general. i can honestly say that if i didn't have children i would have removed myself from this world many years ago. i'm tired, confused, don't care anymore, digusted, and basically just fed up with everything.Texttext to be purple
