I was on Effexor for a year and it did affect my appetite. I did eat a little but never enjoyed anything much - other than sweets!!!! Craved sweets and lived on them for a while - not healthy!!!
At least I did not put on weight which I did with other AD's.
Weaning off effexor at the moment onto cipralax as I am tired of the side effects. Dunno if cipralax will be any better though.....
I am on effexor as well, and I have not found that my appetite has changed much. For me, the side effect that I notice the most is how it affects my sleep. If I do not take my pill early in the day, I cannot sleep that night, or I have bizzare dreams.
If the side effect is a concern to you, talk to your doctor about it. S/he may be able to make recommendations on how to counter the side effect, or look at a new med for you if it becomes a major problem.

Hi..I am currently on effexor xr 300 mlg. I am experiencing a great decrease in my appetite.I can't seem to eat a meal.I have had an eating disorder in the past and I'm scared that effexor may not be the pill for me. Is anyone else on effexor and decreased their appetite?....thanx...tracy
