Derealization and fears of insanity

Hello anxietyem,

Thank you for sharing with us. I would definitely recommend taking some time to go through session 1 of the panic program. It is all about understanding panic and the panic cycle. This leads into further sessions that deal with how to approach coping with the panic and negative thoughts.

If the CBT program it not helpful, you may need to consider complementing the work you do on the site with visits to a healthcare professional you can assist you in a different capacity.

Please do keep us posted and let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Hi Everyone,

Has anyone here experienced dissociation/derealization/depersonalization for long periods of time during a period of high anxiety? I have this currently and it is so scary, in turn since I feel so out of reality I constantly worry that this is the beginning of me getting schizophrenia. I worry about it all the time, even tho I have no hallucinations or dellusions, but I am on constantly watching and waiting to get symptoms. Funnily enough I am surrounded by schizophrenia right now as I am doing my mental health rotation in nursing and my brother is a psych nurse. I am so scared of becoming schizophrenic, I am at the perfect age (26 female) and worry that the depression/anxiety/derealization and just the prodrome period before I lose it. I have just started back on my antidepressant Pristiq because these thoughts are out of control.
