Therapeutic Effects of Gardening

Sprinklers don't work very good in the wind but I'm trying anyway. Thunder and lightning last night and not a drop of rain. This is still better than dragging a hose around trying not to drag it over plants. I still have all the flower beds to water with a hose but they are spread out so it is not so bad. Cantaloupe have set fruit but half the plants look sad. Same with the peppers. Tomatoes have flowers. I really should be watering the lilacs but just haven't the time. Maybe later today. They aren't going to die. I have one to transplant some time too. But right now it is lunch time. Later I intend to sit on my little bench and weed squash. I do love squash. I seem to have potatoes volunteering all over the garden. They won't amount to much since the seed would have been small.

Listening to Red talk about places in California is really a treat, since that state was glorified by the songs of the Beach boys, and others.  I did visit northern Ca., as well as Lake Tahoe, but I suppose I only saw the commercial side.  I recently read about Brian Wilson, who seemed to be a musical genius, but shared some mental health challenges.

I think I got the right plant. The foliage of the Peter Pan lily is poisonous and causes an itch. Like my monks hood. Monks hood doesn't bother me even though the whole plant is poisonous. Horses die eating it.

Cute pic..
The place in the picture is a little restaurant off the boardwalk on Mission Bay..They have replicated a fisherman's wharf...The shopping area is called Seaport Village and it is right next to a bay harbor and on the other side of the harbor is a small city within a City that they call Coronado..There is a old ferry you can take across the bay to Coronado and back or you can drive on the bridge..When I was a kid there was no bridge to drive across and the Ferry carried cars and people across the bay..It doesn't carry cars anymore..So I was lucky to get to ride when I did..When we were at the  bay last week we spotted 4 porpoise's in the water..They hung around and played in the water for quite a while..This is something I have never seen before in all my trips to the bay..I have lived in the same city all 58 years that I have been on this earth and the ocean and the sea life still fascinate me. When you think, you have seen it all, something new and magical appears..It is ever changing and there is always something new to see..

It's cooler here, where I've put in bamboo stakes for some huge tomatoes, and fertilized the transplanted basil, and the tomatoes.  I laid a a little manure and topsoil on a cleared patch for some pole beans, too, since they didn't work out where apparently, some salt had been thrown to control the weeds.  I guess I was a lot more despondent then, than I am now.  Most of the yard has been watered sometime today, and I don't expect any rain.

Hi.

I'm waiting for it to cool a bit more before going back out. I weeded Basil and watered but the green house was still too hot even though it is wide open. I am going to have to make pesto pretty soon. I'm not sure if I have jars, I may have to buy some. Even hotter today than yesterday. I had a big struggle yesterday getting a T shirt off so today I'm wearing a shirt.
Learning to slow down has not been easy for me. By the way, what is the place in the picture?

I have to look up peter pan lilies. My tiger lilies need water bad today. I need water.

Hey everybody hows the weather in your neck of the woods?

We are running about 95' Fahrenheit here and the humidity is 58 % they say..We did our walk at 7 this morning while it was still cool, then went hunting for peter pan lilies of the nile again this afternoon..Man was it hot. The water was pouring out of us and I looked like a red tomato a Big Red tomatoe, so we are resting at home now with the AC on and a nice glass of iced tea..Oh ya I did find 2 peter pan lilies but we will have to wait till tomarrow  morning to plant them it...That's what I say now anyway..better to wait..than make myself sick..Lol lol  lol
It is hard sometimes to stop myself even when I know I should..It's that all or nothing thinking that gets me in trouble every time...Learning to say No to myself is one of the hardest things I am trying to learn to do..I guess I am like a kid who needs a talking tooo..So I guess I will have to sit myself down and have a looong talk........

How are you all doing today anyway?
