Transforming Anger Into Something productive

11 years ago 0 4027 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Ashley,
Maybe by fusing it with a focus,or emotion.  Sometimes I just feel the emotion, but expressing it might not be possible anymore.  An example would be with memories of work, which was toxic.  But that's gone, and I couldn't assert myself.

Staying in the present helps, with that focus.  A mantra I've heard is "living well is the best revenge",or "he who laughs last laughs best".

Great thread Hugs.

How do you think you could transform a negative emotion and harness it? Any ideas?

When I was a kid I used my bent up anger when hitting a baseball or playing tether ball or kick ball. I sure could hit that ball way out there..As I got a little older I started working off my stress or anger as you might call it at the time by working in the yard. Mowing, Digging, Trimming trees..I also cleaned a lot too..I was very physical to the point of wearing myself out every day..Now I am not able to work it off physically and that has and is the hardest thing for me now.
Learning how to use or manage these feeling in a new way has been very difficult..Speaking of throwing things I found myself throwing my purse across the examining room into a chair when I was at my last doctors appointment..Not a good idea. Then when the doctor came in I started getting a little loud I guess, because the doctor said he didn't like my tone..It was not a good day..I have not found a good use for anger except when trying to get a point across when no one seems to be listening..

I'll have to think on that. All my jobs have been too dangerous to allow for anger to distract. I have used anger in the form of splitting wood or picking roots (throwing them at the wagon) to relieve stress. Unfortunately I have caught myself aiming it at someone when baited. Not good use of it.

Hugs, how would you use anger without hurting some one? Most anger situations come from people.

I once saw a sports coach motivate his players by telling them to "transform" their negative emotion, by I think harnessing it and using it to fuel their execution of their performance.

I wonder if others can relate to this, maybe through an anecdote?
