stepping down to 14mg please help

Hi Princess I too am or should I say was using the patch up until yesterday. I left for work and forgot to put one on. At 40 days of not smoking I had only been using the 7 mg patch for a week. I have noticed with each drop in mg a withdrawal. I'm going to try cold turkey at this point since I haven't used a patch in 2 days. This also prompted me to post today saying "not doing very well". I feel like I just quit and emotional again. It's now 9:30pm eastern time and I'm feeling a little better. I still have the patches and if it gets to the point I can't take it anymore then I will gladly put the patch back on. Your doing great and only you will know if your ready to stop. When I dropped down from 21mg to 14mg the withdrawals lasted two days. I also didn't know I would feel the withdrawals again but I did and I stepped down pretty fast in my quit. Whatever you decide, don't go too far from here in the event you need the support. I needed it today and everyone has been wonderful. Congratulations on 30 days keep going!!!! Hi Kaceymust welcome back. It sounds like a sign to me that you received the email asking how your doing... Almost like a group not giving up on you and your quit. I'm so happy that you decided to keep trying and you can do this. You did it before and perhaps this is the final quit and a successful quit. Hang tough, don't go too far away and post anytime you need. We are all here for you!! I HATE the Patch! Help me kill it!

Hi Jonthedj, I used the patch and also would get a red mark. It went away after a while, I also didn't wear the patch when I went to sleep because it would give me weird dreams. So it kind of gave my skin a break. I had the same attitude as you did about wanting to get off the patch soon. Right now you have 5 days without smoking and hell week is almost over. I just stopped using the patch after 40 days and I stepped down rather quickly. I did 2 weeks on the 21 mg, 2 weeks at 14 mg and about 1 and 1/2 weeks at 7 mg. The only reason I chose to stop the patch was because I forgot to put it on one morning and didn't realize it until I got to work. Anyway it's been 4 days off the patch and the first 2 days felt like I had just quit smoking. My quit was in serious jeapordy and had it not been for this site, letting myself down and not wanting to throw it all away I suffered the pain of withdrawal and made it through. I wouldn't suggest cutting down too quickly. That is only my recommendation you may feel differently but it isn't worth the risk of putting your quit in danger so soon. As to the $20.00 you will see it in time. It is worth every penny to not smoke. Hang in there don't smoke and keep posting!!!! We are all here for you no matter what you decide just don't smoke ok!!! Thanks for your help

I just wanted to thank everyone for their support recently. I stepped off the patch and had some emotional issues going on, anyway I have made it through and have 44 days without smoking and 4 days off the patch. The first few days were a doozy to say the least, It felt like day 1 of not smoking. I feel so much better now and my cravings are minimal again. What a relief. Like Phil said, with all this support I can't smoke and I didn't . So thank you again I really needed the support and the kick in the ash to keep me focused on what is important to me and you, and that is not to smoke!!! Hello, I am new.

Hi lou P Lou I just wanted to see how your doing?? We are all here for you anytime you need. As for work try picking up a book with crossword puzzles or something to occupy the mind and the hands. I have internet at work so I sign on and read but anything to keep you busy helps. Try walking in the opposite direction of the smokers which will also help with the weight. I lost quite a bit of weight before I quit and I am gaining again with all the gum and sweets but I know I can lose the weight. I can't afford another asthma attack let alone the medical bills that follow. I won my battle with cervical cancer and you know as well as me that it wasn't easy!! This is the best decision of your life and I'm here anytime you need. Believe me it works. My insurance didn't cover the Chantix so I'm using the patch and doing wonderful. I've heard great things about Chantix so stay strong and let everyone at work know that you quit and could use the support. I did and everyone helped me out even when I couldn't stop crying. I can laugh at it now and soon you will too STAY STRONG!!! Want to smoke

I am not having a good day at all. My daughter left for Florida for a week with her father who smokes pot and can't afford to pay child support but can afford to go to florida, no control over that court order damn NYS laws and my boyfriend was suppose to move out last week now he says he can't go for another week in the meantime I have to pay an extra 200.00 in rent. He contributed $100.00 toward the extra rent whoppee:( and he smoked in the car this morning because I smelled it when I went out after I told him not to. I'm really trying but my Cuban temper is boiling! I have worked so hard for these 15 days and now it seems like everyone is pushing me to the limits.I'm ready to blow a fuse. I have not smoked and I know if I do I will regret it in the worst way. Which is why I am posting this. I am going for a long walk to try to calm down. I am so angry right now. Any advise will help right now sorry to vent but I don't know what else to do. Want to smoke

Hi I just wanted to let you all know that I made it through another day. After my walk I called up one of the girls I work with and we went out for a few too many drinks. She doesn't smoke and you can't smoke in bars in NY so it kind of helped. I prefer to deal with this headache then to have my chest hurting from coughing so much. I'm missing my daughter and dealing with the boyfriend. I just need to learn to deal with things a little easier. Only I can jepordize my quit and I can't look for excuses. Anyway I'm ok, still bummed out but ok and not smoking!!!
