So sorry to hear about your dad and keep the powerful impact it made on you foremost in your mind. Ditto on the millionth time of quitting, but trying and doing are two different things. Here's to keeping the quit, and launching a whole new us. We can do this together, and we can do it well, too!

Sorry, haven't got the hang of the quit meter yet, it keeps dissappearing off my desk, and it doesn't show the hours correct... the perils of grandmas running puters...

TextHi all, I am working on 23 hours sans cigs and am having a great time even if my jaws feel like lock jaw from clamping down on straws and hard candy. I'm not sure if I am going to cry or laugh next, but it's gonna be a ride. I am bound and determined this is it, I've smoked since I was 12 years old and now I'm 52...you do the math, my head is floating and I can't seem to think clearly. Love being here, would love some encouragement, and hope to give lots of the same.
Niks, don't beat yourself up over it; spilled milk and all. But learn from yourself and be totaly honest about how you set yourself up to smoke at some point during the vacation. I know! I've done it too, in the past. I start listening to the negative talk in my mind (which is really the darned addiction talking) and the next thing you know, smoking seems to be an option. But if I'm really brutally honest, I let it happen, and I chose to smoke, because I didn't put my coping skills into place, I just opted out. But now, here we are, together with all these wonderfully supportive folks at this site, and it couldn't be easier to find help when you need it! Do please post instead of smoke, it's really much more healthy, not to mention much more fun!!! Yahoo, what a ride.

Hi ya fresh! It's the greatest thing to do! Lets get on this train and ride it to the end! I'm only just crossing over to day 2, but let me tell you, already I can breathe better, my hands and feet are not frozen to the touch (my husband attests to this) AND I have done it all without losing my temper even once. That is amazing, let me tell you! Pick a day, not too far away, cuz the addiction will try to talk you out of it, and there's never never never gonna be a day the addiction will think is RIGHT so just pick one and DO IT! Yahoo, what a ride! Let's do it together!

I love this idea and I have a thought; if you do the typing in Word, then copy and paste here, would you not be able to do the formatting in Word? Don't know if it would work, but worth a try.... Thanks for thinking up brilliant ways to acnowledge others and also to occupy your mind!

Hey, you are doing great! Hang in there, and remember to breathe deep! It's something we forget to do, now that we are smober! I love that word, don't you? Someone said it to me last night, it really hit the spot. So stay smober one minute, one hour, one day at a time! And don't beat yourself up over the past. You know we can't change the past, so lets change our future, which is going to be smoke free! Lets be smober together!
