smoking cessation article

On a news site today there was a very interesting article about smoking cessation and some new and up-coming medical breakthroughs. Also some side-bars on women and smoking, etc... that I thought was rather interesting. I had also been reading alot about the new drug Chantix...does anyone know if FDA has approved and if it is available? I'm doing quite well with my quit, thank you, but I do enjoy hearing about any strides made to make this task easier for others.

smoking cessation article

I had read a bit about Chantix, but the article I was looking at today was about a vaccine called Nicvax. I assume it is suppossed to "block" the nicotine rush. It also had an article about how women absorb more nicotine than men and have a stronger addiction. Last few days have been hard, really wanted to smoke

Nik: Are you still with us???? I'm worried..... Please respond! I don't know why after such a lengthy time we still have such strong urges. You would think the "addiction" had been won. I also have such an overwhelming desire at times. I cancelled my vacation, which I had intended as a reward. I could not trust myself! :) I think, at least for me, that I need to stick with my routine before I go and throw something else in. The work week is fine, week ends are hard, so a vacation (I figure) will throw me into a tizzy!!!!! Please stay with us Nik! I look forward to your posts! I almost slipped today

BGH--- No you do not need her support! She doesn't seem to really be your friend at all. Sounds to me like you are doing so well in many areas of your life. Congratulations on your quit! That in itself is quite an accomplishment and you should be so very, very proud! :) I have a 19 year old daughter that is bipolar and was diagnosed at 14 after numerous hospitol visits. She does fine for awhile, but lacks the maturity to realize that this is life-long, and she goes off the meds. Then to street drugs and/or alcohol which leads to committals or worse...you have seen it before...I pray, that one day, she will accept the diagnosis. In case nobody has said this, I am very proud of you and I admire your courage! Keep with the quit and the positive direction your life is heading! :)
