My quit smoking adventure begins in 1 hour..... I'M READY!!!!!!!

Thank you all so very very much. Your words are soothing and do help. I had a couple of moments where I saw my sons cigarettes and felt the hard pull from them. I immediately said a mental NO and left. I went into my room where the door stays shut and there is almost no detectable smell of cigarettes and wait out the craving whilst breathing deep. Worked! Last night I had a dream about smoking. I almost never remember my dreams so this was significant. And here I am...another day smoke free. Thank you all for being there and helping guide me through this. I just know I can make it this time... the motivation is strong and your support is humbling. Now...should I move to another area to continue the adventure? Any recommendations? My quit smoking adventure begins in 1 hour..... I'M READY!!!!!!!

Wow, thank you all so much for the kind words of encouragement!!!! Yes...I did it! 15 days free from smoking and my sense of smell is already showing signs of getting sharper. I've so missed the way some things smell...like a freshly cut field of hay, or the fresh smell of a Spring shower! Nothing like it, so help me! I had cravings and I used the under the tongue Stop Smoking spray for the really tough spots, maybe three times used. Otherwise, the days were so filled with fun and activity that I didn't have a whole lot of time to dwell on the fact that I was in the process of withdrawing from Smoking. Then came the dreaded drive home. I'd been really REALLY afraid of this drive. In the past, if I was all alone, like in a car driving a long distance, I would stop and pick up a pack of cigarettes. By the time I got home, if it was a long drive, I would have smoked at the very least a 1/2 a pack if not nearly all of it. I prepared myself by having water and coffee, (yes, I drink coffee and it wasn't something I even thought about giving up while quitting smoking,)and psyching myself up for getting in my car. I started my breathing exersizes and I kept saying...you only have to make it for one more minute...or one more mile. 4 1/2 hours later, I was home and I made it without a cigarette!!!! It is now a quarter till 8 PM, and I've still not had a cigarette. There are smokers in my house and they are being quite good about smoking outside away from my window. So now, its one day at a time, one moment at a time to success. And I am so very happy that the worst part of it is behind me. The withdrawal from the Nicotine, especially the fourth day, is awful for me every time. Now, it's the day to day fight in my head against the nicotine monster voice beguiling me to, "just take a drag off one, and it won't hurt a thing!" Yeah right...I've talked myself into smoking just one so many times and immediately am back to smoking one cigarette after another! So thank you everyone and I am now here for the duration. I promise that when I am feeling that urge, I'll write. When I feel in any way weak against this incidious addiction, I will write. And again in advance, Thank you for being here! Back to day 1

Kaiser, I am genuinely sorry about the break in your quit. Please allow me to tell you why I don't see this interruption as a failure. Oink is SO very correct that loosers give in. That most OBVIOUSLY isn't a correct label for you...look at you...you are STILL HERE and you apparently are still standing ready to fight. It's just that in this round, you weren't fully prepared...you didn't have what you needed to succeed! No one.....NO ONE, expects someone to win an unfair fight. If you slipped into the darkness of depression, (yes, I'm all too aware of this abysmal mental state of being,) then you went into the ring with little chance of winning the fight. I don't know what the Doctor told you, but personally I'd wait a week or two after beginning the Welbutrin to begin your next quit. In the mean time...Stay, ***please stay*** and let everyone lift you up and inject you with the strength you need to begin your next quit with a running start at it. I personally am very proud of you Kaiser. You could have just logged onto another site, with another name. But you chose not too... and that tells me a great deal about you.
