Bejja,
Congratulations!!! You made it through the first day. I remember the first time I quit and just how proud I was of that. Even with this quit, that first day is SO important because it means a new beginning!
Check in here often, and POST POST POST when you are feeling the hard pull of your former smoking self.
Take Care!

Oh... I've not gained any weight during my quit and as a matter of fact I lost a pound since yesterday. THAT alone will carry me through the day...all I gotta do is remember I lost that pound and I'll get an instant smile.
Why? Ok....since you asked ::grin::
In the 12 months I've shed 65 pounds...the healthy way. One of my fears about quitting smoking was the weight issue but, I had it in the back of my mind *always* that I wanted to quit smoking. I've made numerous attempts at it in the last 3 years.
Yep, two battles at the same time. However, quitting smoking became really important to me when I met and fell in love with someone four months ago. In 6 months I hit 50 folks and its looking like a whole new ballgame for me! I want it with clean lungs!
Hugs to all

Eve,
We are going to have to figure out a way for out group to get hold of one another during times such as what you went through yesterday. Sorry I wasn't here...though it sounds like you had quite a nice little journey within that will help you out the next time you come across someone like that woman again. Yes, I am in full agreement when it comes to the kind of hoity behavior that woman tried to inflict on you.
Just to let you know...I am so very proud of you and how you got through that particular craving. Well done!
This morning I had my worst craving yet. I am at the 3 week mark now. After today, this will be my longest quit, this will be my LAST QUIT!!! But whoooooeeeeeeee that craving this morning nearly got me! I woke up with it and it stayed with me for what seemed like an eternity...probably was only a few minutes but, it sure didn't seem like it!
I'm fine now and have read myself back into positive thought-waves that should carry me through the next one just fine.... I AM GONNA BEAT THIS DANG IT, (not quite the way I wanted to say that, but it will suffice for the moment.)
How is getting the SSC Messenger problem solving going? That sure would help a lot to find someone to grab and talk through those moments!

Eve,
Frankly I wouldn't mind giving an alternative IM program address 'cept I have no intentions of posting that info on the Forum. A topic for the C.A.R.E. group would be a good alternative.

Lusko,
5 days is great! Those first days in my previous quits were awful, especially the 4th day. That is when the nicotine has pretty much exited your system and the addicted part of your brain is going to try and talk you into taking just one puff. "Just one Puff won't hurt...besides, who's gonna know?" Ah yes, I've heard this conversation countless times in my head.
So 5 days??? That is spectacular! This group is great and all are here to help each other with support, kind words, sometimes stern words...anything and everything that will help to make our lives smoke free for just one more minute, one more day...the rest of our lives!
Hang in there!

Eve,
I only vaguely recall performing the various knots I practiced in Girl Scouts... How does one become a member of the Rope Chain? I need all the help I can get!

Thanks everyone for the continued kind words...I REALLY appreciate the supportive spirit each of you have here!
The son has taken his smoking outside...almost all the time now. Yes, his room still smells of smoke but he keeps the door closed and works to keep the remainder of the house smoke/relatively smell free. However, smoking in the house continued until two or three days prior to my return home so the smell was still pretty strong. So he too is working to keep from being the cause of triggers.
The house was clean when I got home though! And that just made coming home from my vacation WONDERFUL!!!! Frankly, I was shocked...I really didn't expect the house to look as good as it does.
Had a most excellent day today. Have been busy and only a few minor 'urges' but nothing that I wasn't able to deal with. I've not had to use the Stop Smoking spray in many days, but if I get any real bad ones I won't hesitate to continue using the spray as needed.
Hope everyone else is haveing a great day! Thanks again!

Changing,
What a wonderful new name!!! I agree with your assessment that positive changes such as what you've made in your name, produce positive thought which is the way to go whilst breaking away from the smokes. I love the idea!!!!! Way to go! And a huge CONTRATS on 9 days smoke free!
