Red, you're inspiring a lot of our members! Thank you for your story. You no longer fear change, you're actually looking forward to it. This is so great to hear!
Members, what are you looking forward to when you communicate and assert yourselves?
Anxiety is usually at its worse in the morning, and more so right when you wake up. It is challenging, but when you get up and get your day started, it usually goes down.
I'm sorry to hear about the death in your family. How are you coping with this?
For the side effect from your medications, please talk to you doctor. They will be able to advise you.
All of you have had experiences with losing friends when you left work or were in the hospital. This is no doubt painful, as people you thought would support you , could not. Some people are able to support us during out struggle, and others can not. What we can do, is focus on those who are there for us and build relationships with them.
Davit, can you share how your acquaintances turned into friends when you were in the hospital. What did you do to build friendships with them?
When I read your posts, its clear that you've gained insight and self awareness. You're know that you're grieving the loss of a relationship and your childhood. Sadness and anger are part of the grieving process. Although it may not feel great, you are doing important emotional work, which will have positive rewards. You are feeling your emotions, and not suppressing them. One things you can do when you are feeling sad/anxious/anger is talk to the part of yourself that is feeling that emotion. You can say "Anxiety, I know you are here. What would you like to tell me?". Have a conversation with the emotion.
Its great to hear that you are asserting youself. Trust your instincts when it comes to a therapist. It you don't feel its a good fit, than find someone you can connect with.
Members, thanks for sharing your experience.
If you feel comfortable with sharing, please let us know about your counselling experience.
You've taken the first step by starting the program. The program is step by step, and you can do it at your own pace. You will know when you are ready for exposure work. It may be frightening right now, but the program is designed for you to reach those steps.
Like Teebs said, you dont't have to face all your fears all at once. If vomitting is your biggest fear, it may be helpful to tackle it when you feel more confident.
What do you need to feel confident enough to do exposure work?
Teebs, its great to hear that you were able to make such a breakthrough. Part of getting through anything difficult time, is just knowing that people are there for us and like you said, its enough to make you feel like you're not alone.
