Genejockey,   Perhaps you could make a quick trip to your local pharmacy and talk to the pharmacist about paxil. Pharmacists are generally extremely knowledgeable and they should be able to let you know when it will start kicking in and perhaps help you with the side effects. Good luck! Sarah, Health Educator

It can sometimes be difficult to change your mindset or your way of thinking. However, challenging your negative thoughts can often help.   Below are ten questions you may find helpful in challenging your anxious thoughts:

The following ten questions will help you to challenge any anxious thoughts. When you have an anxious thought, answer some of these 10 questions:

1. Is it "true"?
2. How do I know it’s true?
3. Is it 100% true? (remember something that is 75% or 99% true is  
    not 100% true)
4. What's the evidence for it being true?
5. What’s the evidence against it being true?
6. Has it ever happened before?
7. What's different now?
8. If it were true, how bad would it really be?
9. What's the worst thing that could happen?
10. If the worst thing happened, how bad would it really be?

crowena63,   Thank you for sharing your story and support with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you.  We are all a group of individuals who support each other.  

If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests.  These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor.

We also have developed a Panic Program.  This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above.  Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead.  

These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free".  If you have any question or concerns with our “TOOLS”, you can contact us at support@paniccenter.net.  We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have.

freshstart,   In terms of side effects for paxil and zoloft, common side effects are: anxiety or nervousness back pain change in sense of taste constipation decreased or increased appetite decreased sexual desire or ability diarrhea dizziness or drowsiness headache insomnia nausea tiredness or weakness When you see your doctor this week, it is strongly encouraged that you speak to them about your concerns when decreasing your dosage.

cm,   How have you been doing since your last post? You mentioned that you are experiencing a lot of anger right now. Is there something that has recently happened in your life that has made you angry or even overwhelmed? Have you been challenging these negative thoughts?   Experiencing anger and feelings of being overwhelmed are completely common, especially in periods of change or adjustment.   Members, have you ever experienced these phases? hello having alot of trouble

Nikki,   Sorry to hear the prescription has not been working for you. Many here have struggled with starting or stopping medications. In general, most medications of this nature take time to build a therapeutic level in your system. As it does, the effect it produces becomes more pronounced and stable.    In terms of talking to your husband, is it possible for him to join you next time you visit a doctor? How has the search been going for a community medical centre in your area that could offer therapy? Perhaps if you do choose to see a doctor or therapist, they may be able to help in explaining your experience to your husband.   Other than home remedies, what else have you tried in the past that has worked? What were you doing different during those 2 weeks without the attacks? Maybe by reflecting on those weeks you will be able to think of something you tried that was successful that you could try again.   Continue to work through the sessions and let us know how you are doing.     Sarah, Health Educator

jonlee,   Sorry to hear about the reaction you received from your husband. I am sure that is not what you wanted to hear. It is reassuring to know that tomorrow is a meet and greet only. Continue to tell yourself this tonight and on your way to the appointment tomorrow. It may be helpful to highlight all the positive aspects of your visit to the dentist such as: you will continue to have healthy teeth, it is a very good method of self-care, and for the benefits for your baby!   Let your dentist know about your pregnancy. They will take every precaution possible when working with you and are also trained on how to care for you while you are pregnant.   Please keep us updated on the appointment.
