Oh great, just great

Hi Kat,

As long as you are following your doctor's advice you should be fine generally.  Go back and bother him/her if the fluid retention continues.

My own experience was that many doctors do not always know the myriad of symptoms which come along with a quit...............how could they as there are so many, and different ones affect different folk, also if they have not quit themselves they cannot understand all the symptoms.

Do try herbal remedies and other suggestions, as you may find a solution.  Whatever you do.........DO NOT SMOKE!  The symptoms may take time to go away, but, in the meantime bite the bullet and soldier on.

Stay Strong!   Love Lolly.

Hi CaroB,

Welcome to SSC.  You sound as if you are determined to win this battle.  Good for you!

Your sense of smell will continue to improve, and lots of other improvements in your health will materialise as time goes on.

Stay strong and, whatever it takes, just don't smoke!

What if you live?

Hi Lizzie,

As you know, I have developed cancer since my quit 6 years ago!  I am 62 on Sunday, and it's a good possibility I may not see my 70th birthday.  I stay as positive as ever and determined to fight this disease!

My tumour, which was beside, but not in my lung and, according to the doctors, was not smoking-related,  involved radiotherapy treatment.  This has burned away a good part of my left lung, and has left me breathless.  My pneumonologist explained that my right lung cannot compensate very well because I had smoked for so many years!  I am not on oxygen yet, but it may happen.

As Lizzie says, "Quit while you are ahead!"  The younger you quit the bettter!  No matter what age you are, you are not immune to smoking diseases, nor are you immortal!!!

Lolly.

New SSC coming SOON!

Hope we will be able to sign on to SSC7 easily, and not have to complete the whole stop smoking  questionnaire on our way.  Also can we keep our names?
Will you give computer challenged people simple instructions?!

Thanks,  Lolly.

It has been a long time

Hi Sparky,

I'm glad to hear that you have decided to remain Sparky.  Apparently ( I was told) there is a second Lolly somewhere.
I've been trying to reply to this post since you wrote it, but the new SSC still has some unresolved glitches.
As you may imagine, we are all right behind you whatever you do!  Do prepare well and I wish you strength as you start.

Love Lolly.
