first few minutes smoke free

I'm going to chime in with Jeff.

That was the worst thing about looking back on 33 years of smoking. It's so depressing to think of all the harm I did to myself.  At the time I was thinking oh who cares... that is so far off until I'm old and HAVE to quit. The time goes faster than you think. It's much, much harder to quit later.

You have found the best place to quit! There is lots of support and the program is great.

Hang in there and get it done. The sooner the better!

Its no Joke! Henny Penny is one year smoke free!!!

Oh gosh,  Karren, you make me all misty eyed. We have sure been through it.. yes? We ended up having just about all the same crazy things happen in lock step. Remember freaking out on the patches. lol. Funny now, not then.  You were the only other one who ever agreed that food tasted worse (different) now. LOL I'll always love you for that! Your year is almost here... you have done a super job and you are a wonderful supporter of everyone here. Thanks so much!

Moss, thank you so much brother.. You stuck around to make sure I was ok back when I was in meltdown. So many of us have so much in common it's amazing.

Ron - hahaha. Yeah, that was pretty funny. I surprised myself for sure! I'm glad you are back. You took off for awhile but really good to see you again!

Cameless and Tresa.. Thanks! You both have set a great example!  I'm tryin to catch up :)

And The Day is Today for many!

Darlin, the pillow is for screaming.

lol!   I laughed pretty hard at that one. Maybe that falls under distraction.

Be good to yourself... take the walk, eat the cheeseburger, make it a double.  Do whatever it takes to protect your quit!
You are doing great. We all were exactly in your spot.  Count to five, ten or twenty. Just keep up the good work!

And The Day is Today for many!

Hi Lori,
Just checking in to see how it's going today...
How are you doing?

Don't worry about that inadvertent post  .. you will find that spacing out is part of the healing process. Yep, it's a good thing!
It means that more oxygen is getting to your brain and the nasty carbon monoxide is leaving your body and brain.  We have all been there.  We like to chuckle every now and then but everyone of us is thrilled you are here!  Really. (((hug))))
There was a funny post by Duffis that I'll bump up for you. You will like it!

I think it's wonderful that you have a good friend to help keep those smoking thoughts away.

The first week is rough and the first three days can really be a challenge.  You have a great attitude and a will to make it happen.  Keep posting! Let us know how it's going.
 Happy to have you here

Best,
HP

costly poisoning

Hi Deb!

Sooooo happy to see you!!!!

Congratulations on your promotion.  I think Dave said it all. lol!
No, really it's great!

I can sure relate about wanting a smoke to celebrate.
My job is like a hunt and when I found something good, it was time to celebrate with a cigarette!!!!  It took a good four months before I could snag a deal and not immediately think of a smoke but boy, was I ever  lost at the beginning.  Smoking is such an insidious habit. It gets into every little nook and cranny of our lives.  One of my old quits was lost because I didn't know how to relax without a cig, went to Hawaii and lit right up. ugh.  I always thought cigs were about the mundane or bad events but it's linked to the good too and the cravings are just as strong!!!
You did great. Glad you got through it :)

Wow, those taxes!!! I'm in CA also and there is no way I could afford to smoke now. I'd really feel guilty (down one income here) just taking all that money for me.  When I was behind someone in line buying cigs, I couldn't believe my old cigs were 7.00 a pack BEFORE the tax increase. Holy  smokes! For real!
What a waste.
You could probably have more fun if you drive down the 405 throwing dollar bills out the window!
