So here we go again...
Hi KP,
Welcome to the best place to find support and information!
I can totally relate to your quit, I did the same thing. One day I just put away the cigarettes. That was it. Then I kind of freaked out. lol. What have I done?
However, I am not as brave as you... I used the patches (I was chicken). And look where I am now.. believe me... it was the last thing I ever expected but this is the longest I've ever quit (33years, pack a day habit). I found this site in the third week of my quit and that was it. I owe everything to the people here and the program. I knew I never had to go back to smoking. This is the way out.
Be sure to set up your program and work those rewards! You will be amazed at the difference it makes. Your brain used cigs as a reward so you have to cook up some new ones to trick your brain. Also , positive attitude... like you already have :) You are seeing the positive aspects of quitting... walking, breathing better. Stay focused on the good things and quitting will be soooooo much easier! The Alan Carr book is a great read along with the old posts on this site. There is not a single subject that has not been discussed about smoking.
We are a cheerful bunch who will be your quit buddies and helpers.. post a lot, stay focused and it will happen for you!! Trust me, my new friend, you don't want to be my age and smoking. All of us will say that and so will your dad.... it is a drag!
Good luck! We are all here in your cheering section!
best,
HP
