I Choose Life, You know, change is so very hard for everyone, and you've had your share lately. And also there is the part of us that mourns the "best friend" we thought they were and it's like a death in the family. So do acknowledge the feelings, even cry for the loss, but know that we are all here with you, we will hold your hand, and listen to you as long as you need. Deep, cleansing breaths, awareness of all we have accomplished, and know you are doing the most important work of your life. Myth Or Fact?

JUJU, I agree with you that non smokers are the only ones who believe quitting is easy. I keep getting people saying, oh, you got it licked now. NOT! So very NOT! But I feel better and am breathing better and I can climb the stairs without being winded, which is wonderful. Mrs Nick, I love the safety plan and the support person, I shall steal the idea immediately! For me, I know I have to have an alternate plan for the sneak attacks, even when I get 10 years down the line. I plan to carry sugar free gum forever. Cinnamon gum is for really bad times, but mostly I love bubble gum - it's so oral.... When You Really Just don't Want to Smoke

Thank you so much for this, especially today. I struggle a lot around milestones, not just major ones, but I try very hard to stay positive because I remember that when I was smoking, all I could think about was quitting, so now I've done it, and I want to keep it that way, but the struggle sometimes wears on me. So it's wonderful to know that there does come a time that not only is it not a struggle, but it is a joy. Thank you! When You Really Just don't Want to Smoke

Anxious, yep, I feel you on this one. The only thing that gets me through is positive thinking. Honest, if the voice in my head says "I want a smoke" 'cuz that's what I always did before, I think 'the truth is I DON'T WANT A SMOKE' and if I keep saying "NO I DON'T" to that voice in my head (talk about feeling psycho!), then eventually, I hope, I'll feel exactly like the title of this post all the time! Remember, smoking because you are stressed will not fix your stress, it will only add the stress of addiction to your stress. These are the things I tell myself when I am feeling stressed. Oh, and on a really BAD day, I remember that STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS! Ice cream works wonders! Trust and Believe

Thank you for this, it's very thought provoking. I do indeed believe, but trust is an entirely different matter. How do you build trust? Is it hard for others too? I almost feel like crying about this, now what's up with that? Does it relate to smoking? Hmmmm, I'm going to have to think about this. Anyone else feel an emotional response? AARRRGHHHH

Dear Hotsie, (sounds like a love letter, doesn't it?) I am feeling better, thanks so much! Chicken soup did the trick, but the BEST thing was NO trip to hospital with breathing treatments and NO bronchitis or asthma or feeling like I was drowning (or dying) for 3 weeks. Now I can have an ordinary 4 day cold! WoooooHooooo! Today is 70 days, or 10 weeks. Incredible! Greger, I laughed at the kicking and screaming! Don't I know that one! Hubby SAYS he's going to get me a 60 day chip for a reward, but I just went and got a Starbucks frapaccino instead. Yum!
