Back and struggling

I'm kinda thinking that I know that I can go for three week without a cig cos I did it before, not one puff! So if I challenge myself to stay off them for the month of May and see how I feel after that. Could be a silly approach but I'm desperate at this point! Killing the demon

I'm so aware of the physical cravings that I'm having at the moment! Its a bit uncomfortable but I can handle it. My throat is tight, I feel very anxious, I'm cranky, groggy, tired, my chest is tight, I haven't started grinding my teeth yet but I know its on the way! I know this is the nicotine leaving my system, its just strange to be able to observe and know what it is, try and be a bit more understanding with myself.

I was basically torturing myself, keeping myself in hell and heck week which was a bit crazy. I had a great  cry last night, I sobbed my little heart out and fellt a bit better.

Hope you are all doing ok today!

Paula

A small victory (day 2)

Hey snazzy! Fair play to you being able to cope with that so early on! I don't think I could hack that at the moment! I've got my water and mints keeping me sane, but I'm so so sleepy! How are you finding your energy?

Well, I've blown it again

I smoked again. I don't want to allow myself to fall into it and keep smoking for a few days/weeks till I sort myself out but I can't sort myself out while I'm keeping myself in a torture like state. I need help, I don't think I can do this cold turkey, well its pretty obvious I can't do this cold turkey. So lets see, I've tried cold turkey, patches, gum, hypnotherapy and herbal routes so far. I don't think I'd be keen on Chantix, not sure why cos I've seen it help so many people here, I think I'd want something that even resembles a cigarette! Has anyone tried the nicotine inhaler? I really hate this, I thought I was fine earlier today but then after dinner, I just got a huge craving and didn't even attempt to fight it- i was just too tired- how pathetic is that!

I was thinking that the inhaler might be helpful, just to be able to build up confidence and act as a saftey net- I can have it when I need it and I'll have no excuse! What do you's think?

Taking advice and making a plan

Hey guys,

As many of you know, I've been struggling with quitting for about 3 months now, on and off cigs and keeping myself a bit mental! Many of you have given me excellent advice which I've pretty much ignored in the middle of cravings and just went and smoked. I've decided to make a new quit date of the 26th May and I'm going to talk to my GP and get some help because the cold turkey approach just isn't working. I really appreciate everyones support on this site and I know that I wouldn't have even made it a few days without the help I received here so I'll be reading and educating myself, developing a reward plan and coping strategy over the next week or so and hopefully make this quit my last.

Best of luck to you all, thanks so much for all the help and I'll see you agian soon!

Paula

Chantix question

Hi Guys,

I just have a question for the people who quit using chantix, does it cause depression? I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me how it worked for you and how you felt on it!

Thanks

Taking advice and making a plan

Hi everyone!

I made an appointment to see my doctor tommorrow morning to talk through the options ie chantix etc. I think the part that dragged me down was the panic that I would get when I had a craving so I was thinking of also getting a nicotine inhaler which I could carry around with me all the time so if I did get into a panic, I could use that. I know it might be silly to put nicotine back into my system if I've been off them for a while but I think it would be better than getting myself into a panicy state and buying cigs.

Things are pretty ****y at the moment, I've important exams next week and my boyfriend is no support at all, he's really angry that I started smoking again. He's barely speaking to me and everything is just building up. He's one of those people who thinks that quitting smoking is easy and I don't know how to get him to understand. I was very moody when I was off them and he's just afraid that I'm going to be moody again when I quit again and that it won't suit him so I'm very angry that he is being so unsupprtive and its making me more anxious and I'm ranting now. I just feel like I can't cope but I want to try and get myself into a positive frame of mind and upbeat because if I go into this quit with a 'woe me' attituse, I'll doom myself.

Zyban

Hi everyone,

I was at the doctor this morning intending to get a prescription for chantix but in the end he suggested that Zyban would be more suitable for me as I suffered from depression a few years ago and Zyban was first brought out as an anti-depressant. I don't think I've heard of anyone using Zyban on this site but if you have could you please let me know how you got on with it?

Thanks

Paula
