I've been reading a lot of the old post here, and a lot of members have stated that they now hate the smell of cigarette smoke.
Am I the only one who's not offended by the smell of cigarette smoke? When hanging out with my smoker friends, I have not gone out of my way to avoid smelling it. I seem to 'enjoy' it, but not enough to make me want to take a puff. Is this crazy?
btw - I am almost one month nicotine-free.

I was in a car with 3 smokers and they must have smoked 2 or 3 times within an hour and all I could think about is.... this does not bother me. I seem to be liking it.
Am I setting myself up for trouble?

Hi, just checking in. Tomorrow will be my official one month smoke-free.
Definitely easier than week 1 and 2, but still experiencing some cravings/urges, but on a more positive note, my taste and sense of smell has gotten a lot better.
Congrats to all the Octobreathers who are keeping their promise not to give into this nasty habit.

Hi Terri,
I quit cold-turkey and I am here to tell you that it can be done. My doctor actually prescibed me Chantix, but I made a decision that I will quit without any aid.
It was rough in the beginning but it has gotten a lot better. I still have urges and cravings, actually, come to think of it, they are just thoughts of smoking.
Please come to this site for support, there are a lot of people here willing to help.

Thanks for the support and encouragement
Below are just some random thoughts/rambling:
1. I've noticed there are a lot of people who smoke in their cars.
2. I've noticed there's a lot of cigarette butts on the streets/roads/highways. A lot of them are probably mine. (I'm so embarrased)
3. I can smell my deodorant without putting my nose next to my armpit.
4. The color of the nail on my left index finger (this was where I held my cigs) matches the nail on my right index finger.
5. Cigarette is no longer the first thing I think about upon waking up. I just get up and take a shower.
6. I am able to exercise a lot longer and more intense now.

Hi Guys, just checking in.
I just passed my 1 month mark and feeling great about it. Prior to Thanksgiving, I was a bit nervous since this will be the first holiday since I stopped, but I passed with flying colors.
Congrats to all the Octobreathers for making it this far.

You maybe experiencing new triggers, something that you've experienced for the first time since quitting. You and I quit almost the same date and I get those triggers once in a while as well.
The trick that I use is, I acknowledge that I want one cig, but do I also want the rest? One is too many, 1,000 cigs is not enough. I also tell myself that the first cig will not be enjoyable. It's going to be nasty, make me cough and most importantly, it might blow my quit. It's just not worth it.

I'm still here guys. I don't post much, but I do come here and read a lot.
I was hit with a lot of triggers over the holidays, but I managed to stay smoke free. I just kept reminding myself of the reasons for quitting and how better my life is.
3 months is right around the corner for me, but I celebrate each day that I don't smoke. I noticed that urges and thoughts of cigarettes are less frequent now.
I am so proud that the Octobreathers are still here.
May 2008 bring joy, happiness and specially smoke-free year!!!!
