Hello everyone

I joined this forum a couple of days ago, but have not had the chance to introduce myself. Today will be day 3 of my quit. I have been trying to quit for a month now, but the longest I have gone without cigs is 2 days. I am so glad I found this forum and I've read a lot of useful information on how to successfully get rid of this nasty habit.

Hello everyone

Thank you everyone. I sure hope that it gets easier from here on out. I had major cravings today but did not smoke. In addition to quitting smoking, I'm also exercising almost daily (walking and treadmill). Although I have Chantix (prescribed by my doctor,)I am doing this via cold-turkey. I want to live a healthier life. I want to grow old with my wife and see my kids grow up and have their own kids. That's my motivation.

Hard Time Of It

Hi Gin, you and I have the same quit date. I have the same urges as well, but have utilized my coping techniques (water and deep breaths) and it's been working. Yesterday, I bought a new movie as a reward. This has been the longest without smoking for me and I felt proud of it.

Bye Bye Hell week, hello Heck week

Today is day 7 of my quit, so far so good. I did have some cravings last weekend but kept myself busy and used some of my coping techniques (water and walking). I am however, having major cravings today, especially after lunch, but it went away. I'm hoping Heck week will not be as bad. Again, thanks for everyone who has posted on this site. It has helped me a lot. Bye Bye Hell week, hello Heck week

Thanks for everyone's continued support. I will continue to read and educate myself more about this addiction and one day not to even think about it. Congrats to everyone here who have kept their promise to not give in to this addiction. I'M GOING CRAZY!!!

Hi ldyexec. You and I have the same quit date. I still have major cravings throught the day, but I have not smoke. I also thought that by this time, it will be a bit easier, but it has not been for me either. Just keep reminding yourself why you wanted to quit in the first place. This is what has kept me smoke-free. Be strong!!!! OCTOBER QUITTERS UNITE!

Just sending a warm hello from an October Quitter. Today is week 2 of my quit and I feel GREAT!!!!! It's been a rough ride for some days, but I am starting to believe that it will get easier. I don't recall wanting a cig the whole weekend. Please remember to remind yourself every morning that you will not smoke today and just as important, congratulate yourself before going to bed for not smoking today. Congrats to all the October Quitters and wish you all the best. Octobreathers! How's it going?

Checking in....... I am on my third week and it has gotten a bit easier. I had my first smoking dream a couple of days ago and I woke up sweating. In my dream, I smoked a pack in 2 hours. Whew!!!! Although the cravings/urges does not occur as often as it was the first couple of days/weeks, they come on very strong now, but I am able to fight it. I think it's because I am experiencing 'new' things as an ex-smoker, like going to mall for the time since I've quit or having a cold. I will continue to take it day by day, hour by hour, if need be. I never want to go back to smoking!
