I am a Chantix patient

Hi Lolo, A BIG congratulations on your first day smoke free. I'm also using Chantix. Didn't quit until Day 12. Felt pretty downright depressed Days 6 through 11 or so. I think it was the physical withdrawal from nicotine while still smoking. I now realize it's going to take diligence and a conscious effort to stay quit, during the time I take Chantix and after. But I believe Chantix is REALLY helping. And I'm up for the fight. Just remember to NEVER let your guard down! Welcome To Freedom, Mike :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 14 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 283 Amount Saved: $49 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 7 Mins: 49 Seconds: 0

By the way, I didn't mean to worry you with my experience! Chantix quitters' experiences vary a lot. Assume you're one of those that will just sail through, until YOUR experience tells you something different. Then do what you need to adjust - and maintain that precious quit! APRIL quitters !

OK, I've migrated from the Ashkickers (I like that name too!). Finally, got this new life started, I'm 13 hours smoke free and lovin' the feeling! I was outside briefly at work tonight, a time when I routinely smoke and I had the thought, "So this is what personal power feels like." LouPLou, I'm on day 12 of Chantix and I wasn't sure even up to yesterday whether it would help at all. But this has really been different than my other 5,642 ;p quits. I think about cigarettes a lot, but it's more of an acute awareness that I used to smoke and now I'm not rather than a craving. In fact, I bought a paper at a convenience store earlier today and the woman in front of me bought smokes and I thought "Glad I'm not going to buy any". Last week I had 3 or 4 days of intense crabbiness/depression. I've got stressors in my life, so I wasn't sure, but I now think I was going through the physical withdrawal from smoking on Chantix while still smoking a pack a day!!!! So now I've got to watch out for the psychological traps. So, LouPLou, you may be in for a less rocky road than on other attempts. Let's just not let our guard down! Jean49, Duck, Dawya, Sparky, Mavawsc: a BIG congratulations to you on your quits. Thanks for being here to keep me company on this wonderful journey of change I've been wanting to make for decades. It's Been Awhile

Hi Sparky, 8 days is awesome! Forget the past and feel good about that! I can't wait to get those seven more days under my belt! I'm never bored, not with the internet, reading and hobbies. Is it possible to fill those tempting, boring times with some little activity you enjoy? Just food for thought, FWIW. Keep It Up! APRIL quitters !

Hi All, Coming up on the 24 hour mark. Doing good. Woke up. As ususal my first thought was thought: "Have a smoke". I just reminded myself, "Remember, you don't do that anymore". Feels good. Bingo, Thanks for joining us here. Big one year anniversary coming up! That's my big milestone: one year. I've read you've got to have seen all the seasons before you let your guard down too much about being a non-smoker. So I'm focused on today, but also on the 12 and 18 month goals. What you wrote is PERFECT!!! I've never read it before: "Remember - I'd always rather be an ex-smoker with an occasional desire for a cigarette than a smoker with a constant desire to quit!" Thanks All, Mike P.S. JDK!! You're here! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 28 Amount Saved: $3.5 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 5 Mins: 38 Seconds: 47

APRIL quitters !

I just gave myself a double reward as a begin my second day as a non-smoker. I drove into town and bought a McDonald's breakfast (so I don't have to cook) and a newspaper. It was a double reward because normally on a quit attempt this would be the point at which I drove into town and bought cigarettes because "I just can't get through the morning". So just feeling safe with myself to walk into a convenience store was an even bigger reward than the breakfast. And don't start thinking, this guy is going to gain 100 pounds on his quit. I won't. Maybe 15 or so ;) but that's OK. APRIL quitters !

Smokey, Glad you're here with us! Wishing you success in your fight to have a better, healthier, less stinky life ;p. 26 hours for me. Time to go to work. Hope my co-worker, the only one at work that smokes, is doing OK in his 2nd day of quitting! It just makes it all that much easier right now if he isn't smoking... APRIL quitters !

Hi All, Almost 37 hours and doing OK. Looking forward to counting in days, than weeks instead of hours. Thinking how long I've been a ex-smoker is a big reward for me in and of itself. Getting the craves at times but they're manageable so far this time around. If I start having trouble, I'll be coming here for a shoulder to lean on. This board helps SO much! Jean, they don't allow smoking in my workplace. We used to smoke outside at break and lunch. Tonight I took a walk around the parking lot at break. Thanks for mentioning that I own my quit, I know it's my thing, for me and by me. Anyway he's still not smoking. It would just be nice for both of us if we can "buddy" through this together, but I'm not going back there no matter what he chooses. Good Night All, Mike My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 2 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 42 Amount Saved: $7 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 8 Mins: 16 Seconds: 27

Chantix side effect?

Who can tell MomMom, the brain is a complex thing. I'm on day 14 of Chantix and day 2 of my quit. I've noticed I get into super-happy/silly phases during sections of the day. I've especially noticed it after taking my evening pill. Nothing really drastic, just a really good mood. It's all good, especially how the medication has really helped me stop smoking! If I have a rough phase after stopping Chantix, I feel I'll just deal with it. And I'll know it isn't because I need a smoke, it's because my body is withdrawing from a medication that helped me achieve the biggest goal in my life right now!! So, just be crazy!!! Mike P.S. Congratulations on the 57 days. What a great feeling in itself that must be!
