Kevin, You did it! You're right, this is a MAJOR accomplishment for you. And you're building on it, minute by minute. I woke up, it's 3:45 AM. One of my first thoughts was wondering how you are, instead of thinking about cigarettes. Just goes to show you how imortant this group is to all of our quits! Hang tough! Keep posting! Kevin, I want to recommend a post to you. It's in the forum New Users and General Discussion (hope I got that right, close enough). The thread is A Simple Philosophy. It may sound too simplistic for how you're feeling right now. I'm not sure. But it becomes true VERY quickly, at least it did for me. I hope all is well. At least you have a new pot to grow in! Phil, what are you going to do with that tomato when it's ripe? Will it be a moral dilemma? Yes, ALL the hard questons are asked here! ;p Gen, congratulations on day 20! You'll be in the fourth week of your new and improved life soon. Does it feel even better than you knew it would? 6 days free feels amazingly good, despite the standard withdrawal stuff! TUESDAY PARADE!!!!

A pat on the back to all of you!! It's fun reading what each of you have achieved for yourselves! (Imagine me singing loud, slightly flat and off key rendition of We Are The Champions by Queen. On second thought, don't imagine that, I don't want to irritate you!!) This is my first smoke free Tuesday in many years, probably a few decades. I'm very happy this is the last day I can say that about a day of the week because tomorrow I'll be a full week smoke free! Yeah, Kevin, your cheerleaders are waiting to hear from you. I realized I'm rooting for you more than my favorite baseball team. If you knew me well, you'd know that's really saying something! I'm taking a three day vacation from work. Talk about a quitter's reward! I'm going out to cut, collect and stack wood from trees we had cut down on our property. And no, everybody, I am NOT going to name a piece of wood after Kevin. That would just be wrong!! :p Mike My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/11/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 131 Amount Saved: $21 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 1 Mins: 49 Seconds: 23

Junkie Thinking - A Survival Guide...

Thanks so much! Just what I need! I'll be printing that and carrying it with me wherever I am when I join the ranks of the recovering non-smokers Saturday. I'm going to use the crave (if I have any :) ) as a trigger to read Junkie Thinking instead of smoke. Hi Kev, I'm pretty much in the same boat as you. Had planned my quit date for the 7th and didn't quit because of a multiple stressful changes ongoing in my life. Also, my plans for spending the day on Saturday got changed because of family. Not trying to make excuses but... Anyway, I'm planning to give the evil cancer sticks the 'ol heave ho in about 24 hours. So, our timing (and postponement)is similar. I'll be checking in to see how you're doing and feeling. And I'll let you know how I'm progressing. You're not in this fight alone, Kev!! OK, NOW the quit meter should be reset. Seeing that 3 day quit gave me a feeking of sadness: "I could've been a non-smoker for three days now". I'll take that as an indication I'm ready to make this work. Kevin, I apologize for the abrupt end to our IM conversation. I have dial up and a telephone call came through that I had to take. I think you've got the mindset it takes to beat this monster addiction. Let's do it this time. I'm going to allow myself the last cigarette I have and then it's off to work and a bright new future as a recovering smoker. I'll keep you posted. Thanks for your support, it means a lot. Mike

Hi Kevin, Just checking back in to let you know I'm now 13+ hours smoke free and going to bed so I should have my first day made!!! Yahoo!! You had been telling me about Bach's Rescue Remedy on the IM when I had to go. I was getting ready to tell you I am on a prescription medication called Chantix (Champix in Europe, I believe). You may want to read up on it and then possibly see your doctor. I think it is really helping me transition to being a non-smoker. See the April Quitters thread under (see post below) for more about my personal experience. I've done a lot of research and reading about it and a lot of successful quitters have taken it and are reporting positively. Hoping you'll be able to join the April quitters, for your sake.
