Quitting Again

Hi all. I began my quit on the night of Dec 30th 2006. It has been a little over 2 weeks and I am feeling pretty good. I have been eating a lot of hard candies and suckers. I limit my time outside because when I smoked I only smoked outside. I am hoping soon I will be able to go outside and not think about smoking as much. I am using the 21 mg nicotine patch, I will finish those on Saturday and step down to the 14mg. I do take a multivitamin and b12 everyday. I had to take calms forte for the first week and 1/2 to help me sleep, I can't believe how much not smoking messes with your sleep pattern in the beginning. I am glad I found this site. I really wanted to smoke last night.

I have been smoke free for a little over three weeks and I was doing pretty well until Monday when this mobile home park I live has been turning off our water during the day to find a break in our line. Well last night they didnt turn the water back on at all and I was really stressed out. My husband went down to the store to get some water so we could flush the toilets. After he gets back I found out he didnt get any drinking water. I asked him to back down and get drinking water. He looks at me and says what you afraid to go to the store and told him if I go to a 7-eleven right now I would buy a pack and smoke. So I go back into the living room take two calms forte and drunk what water we had left and watch the news. I was calmed down in about 10 to 15 minutes, but still did not trust myself to go and get drinking water. Husband finely went and got the water. After it was all over with I thought to myself yea I could have smoked a cigarette, but what would that have accomplish? Not a thing. The water would still be off and I would have felt miserable because I would have blown another quit. Hopefully the water will be fixed today. Otis

Constipation

I have been taking psyllium pills for a couple of years now. I find the best time to take them is just before I eat lunch. I only take one a day. I also take a multivitimin and b12 (the kind that is suspsose to dissolve under the tongue, I just chew them up.) So I have not had any real problems with constipation. Otis

I really wanted to smoke last night.

Thanks everybody. Another thing that is going on is I went from the 21 mg patch to the 14 on Monday, I have not been taking my vitimins like I am suspose to and then there is just no water for a good glass to have to drink. Otis

I really wanted to smoke last night.

I just got the phone with the mobile home park manager. All leaks are fixed and should full water pressure back in the next 2 hours. No more stressing out over water I hope for a very long time. Otis

Closet Smoker finally quitting

I too was a closet smoker for almost 18 years before I confessed to my husband. I would have never confessed but one day I was out driving around smoking and burned hole in my car seat, so I kinda had to confess at that point, there was no way to hide it anymore. That was about 5 years ago. I have no ideal why he never found out, but he was a smoker too. I loved the thrill of not getting caught, that I knew I would get in trouble for smoking (goes back to being a kid kinda thing). Husband didn't real care that I was smoking. He does not know how long I did smoke before I told. He was kinda of happy that he had a smoking buddy. I would never smoke around my side of the family even after I fessed up. Smoking consumsed so much of life. How would I slip away to have a smoke and then try and cover up the smell. I would become a real pain in the ass when I could not sneak out for a smoke. Finding places to hide my cigs. Always wondering what if my husband gets off work early and comes in sees me smoking. Had a couple close calls on that. I think sneaking around and smoking is about the worse thing I could have ever done. I wanted to quit but how would I explain the meds or the stop smoking patches. So maybe it was a good thing I did fess up so I was able to take measures to stop smoking. We are both on the nicoderm patches and doing pretty good. Otis

HELP !! Angry... sooo angry

My husband would start a fight with me just so he could go and smoke during some of early stop smoking attempts. I finally figured out what he was up to so I try and avoid any fights during our quit this time around. Otis
