The Magic Ship Thread

Good Morning all you shipmates and Capn M, Sounds like were all busy today and sailing smoothly to Jamaica. The Magic is on autopilot today, no bumps, no waves, and no worries about our weather. Please standby for our arrival in our new port tomorrow. Today the ships flag flies at half-mast, as one of our crew must pay their last respects to a passing friend :( On a happy note, this morning a girl-child is born :) Tomorrow is a better day.....it's Tuesday....and we dock in sunny Jamaica! Phil, please pop in with a nice one liner for us if you will. Lady, words of wisdom are always welcome when entering a new port! Let's chill the wine and warm up the chocolates. Who's got the music this week and how many cooks are in the galley? Im off to tidy the pool area and scrub the decks clean. First mate, Pat * hums loudly while swabbing energetically * Sugar pie, honey bunch You know that I love you I can't help myself I love you and nobody else -The Four Tops My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 15 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 623 Amount Saved: $210 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 19 Mins: 39 Seconds: 2

It begins..

Hi HowlingRock, The time difference was confusing for me at first as well, but I belive the site is based on Ontario's central time zone, so is 3 hours ahead of us. Welcome and congratulations on deciding to quit! Sorry, I haven't got tons of experience but will be happy to help if I can. Do you want to give us a litte info? Are you going cold turkey or are you using an aid? Sounds like you've tried quitting before, so I hope you've gotten your plan, diversion and distraction tools ready for the morning. You will have lots of buddies here, and someone with experience will likely step up to help you out personally. If you really need help to beat a crisis, post a new thread here saying so and someone will be with you asap. You've come to the right place as the people here at SSC are more than willing to lend a hand. Best wishes. Pat Quit or try dyin :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 15 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 607 Amount Saved: $210 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 18 Mins: 29 Seconds: 1

Methods & Withdrawals

Hi Anna, and congratulations to all you happy quitters! Wow, remind me never to accept an arm wrestling invitation from any of you cold-turkey quitters! That's impressive everyone...I'd still be curled up in the fetal position, sucking my thumb at this point had I tried that route. I did 3-4 weeks cutting down then a very low dose generic zyban/wellbutrin the week before my quit just to take the edge off. Early on I decided to use laughter/walking/rewards to enhance the feel-good endorphins and education (thank you SSC and Allen Carr) as the major components of my quit. I am very happy to report having had no...that's none, zip, zero, zilch, nada, nothing...major withdrawl symptoms or cravings of any kind (except for about 30 seconds mental craving, when given sudden sad health news in my family). Over all I feel disgustingly, deleriously happy and pleased with my quit. I've only been really grumpy a couple of times when I've had less than 2 or 3 hours sleep because of the medication. This will end soon and I'm so happy to have my life back...I no longer feel like the slave I was for almost 35 years.
