I'm so sorry for everything you've been through the past several days -- I hope things begin to look up for you very soon.

Hey Buddy -- Hey Everybody -- I'm also guilty of not checking in as much as I'd like -- finding it hard to think of new things to say.
I get biopsy results tomorrow (Monday) from two lesions in my mouth -- THAT was a nasty experience. I can't imagine going through it as a smoker -- all that poison going into open sores?? Ewwwww. Still got a mouthful of stitches.
I'll be back somwhere soon --

Hey Jan --!!
Jan -- so good to see you!!
I've been totally swamped and been trying to be a good little ex-smoker and welcome all the new people -- no time to explore the old posts!! Dunedude (Dunedad) e-mailed me with concerns about so many people who had slipped -- can't even find them! Wow -- feeling SO lost on this site all of a sudden!
(LOVED the angel, Monica --- SO glad YOU'RE still around!

Welcome, Sous! So do you like help a chef or something? Or are you just generally indispensible in some other are of life? Just curious...
So aren't we an interesting group? What do you think might be up between the person known as "liveformyboys" and the "newpapa?" Bruises? They play a little rough together maybe?
Watching this unfold beats smoking by a mile!!

Ladies, Ladies: First, they're fireFIGHTERS, not fireMEN any more. Many of them are female. The new Chief of Police in Washngton, DC, is a woman. The new head of the Episcopal Church in the US is a woman. Time to let go of the fireman fantasy.
Not that firefighters don't hold their own special appeal, especially to the aging among us who are prone to burn down entire apartment complexes by the simple act of forgetting where we left that cigaratte.
But I promise you, there are better ways to meet gorgeous, hunky, eligible, firefighting men than by inadvertently burnng down your building.

Whoa! Is this the great and terrible JohnW from Oklahoma Emergency Management (or at least a first responder in Oklahoma??)
I'm on the wait list to meet this incredible guy, and now I see his son is among us??
How cool is that!!!
Every time I say I'm done with this for a variety of reasons, something happens to reel me back in.
This site is SO much bigger than any of us individuals!
Welcome, Coach! (Um, I just joined a gym, and the personal trainers cost more than I make in a year; any way we can cut a deal?? I have tons of questions!)

Good for you, Gismo! As long as you're quitting for yourself, you should be able to hang on to it in the face of others' smoking. Doesn't make it easier, by any means, but it makes it more real: if it's just for you, then it doesn't matter a bit who might still be smoking around you.
Enjoy your second week -- it should be easier!

Fantastic thread as always, Monica!
Me, I still love the smell of smoke, but like so many other here, I find it revolting on people. I am beyond mortified at what I used to smell like -- it's probably the one thing that keeps me off cigarettes. Ewwwww..... I just shudder at the thought.

Thanks for the story, Sharon. I'm really happy that the experience was so vile for you; part of me still wants to make sure that it would be as vile for me, but I'm too afraid it won't be.
